Ed said at Brisbane 2 that he had been working on the uke songs for a while and gave them to Kelly Slater to listen to. Kelly convinced him to release them. He said that they would be out sometime soon. Then he said June!
Someone in the webosphere is saying the solo album will be released on May 31st - same day as the Death Cab for Cutie album - no idea where she gets this from though!
Maybe Eddie thought June 1st was a Tuesday. May 31st is.

i will have to strongly disagree with the individual "getting in fights over those fuckers", whatever that means.
PJ is not ed, nor vise versa.
the ukulele is a beautiful instrument, full of soul and sadness, and eddie plays one quite well. i would not recommend he, or anyone, stick one up their ass. in fact, people getting in tussles over such trivial things as different musical tastes might want to take up playing one - they're super relaxing and therapeudic.
if you have nothing nice to say, then perhaps just be silent. maybe wait for the album to get released, then form an opinion. just don't bash the uke and eddie for playing one - give thanks instead.
I've noticed that the lettering on this single cover and the new EV logo on the Aussie merch (pinback, t-shirt, etc.) are the same style font. I'm guessing this is a special typewriter from his collection that does lettering similar to handwritten cursive.

Listen to the way you grown adults are talking to other people. Are you kidding me? Are we not allowed to be angry over a rock singer choosing to make his 2nd solo attempt even softer than the first by choosing an instrument that is NOT a popular instrument?
I believe in being respectful but not to the point where I'm a fucking sheep and just stroke their dick over any and every project they shit out. Spare me with that shit. I just think if he chose to do an entire uke album, it was a poor choice. That's not just my opinion. We'll let the record sales speak for themselves.
And don't give me that "he transcends record sales MAAAAAAAN. He's above all that petty stuff." Wake up and smell his net worth people. Ed likes some money. He doesn't want this cd to flop. I just don't like the idea. And I don't give a shit if you think I'm not "cultured" because I refuse to listen to watered down ballads. I'm still a fan...but not of that junk. Sue me.

Yeah, when he was making a record on the ukulele, he was clearly thinking of record sales. Face it, he likes the ukulele and probably just thought it would be fun to make a record. Why are you over-thinking this?
He makes more than enough money with Pearl Jam to warrant releasing this. Also, the "not a popular instrument" comment makes me laugh.
Sorry there aren't any guitar solos for you and your br0 friends to rock out to maaaaaaan.
Wow, I LOVE the cello with the uke....wow. I can't believe how fitting this is for me as well.
The cello accompanies the uke beautifully. I love it also.

I love the song, and I wasn't put off by the uke at all, as I feared I would be - in fact I liked where it took the thing. Really looking forward to hearing more from this

I love the uke. It's relaxing. I liked where he was going with Soon Forget and I've actually wanted to hear more of the uke. I'm not sure if there was any uke on ITW.

Off the top of my head, I think Rise was on the uke and maybe No Ceiling? I think it's a nice break to get something different. I wouldn't expect an Ed solo album to just sound the same as a PJ album.

That's it. At first I thought it was the uke until I saw the video of him performing it at Conan's show last year.

This is shaping up to be a gorgeous album. Those songs were beautiful to start with, but if this arrangement is anything to go by, Eddie is kicking it up a notch, or two. Cannot wait.
