PJ 20 Question.
With the rampant speculation that it will be at Alpine Valley, i see a LOT of negativity to Apline Valley, with people avoiding the festival jsut because of location
As a Die hard since i was 12, this seems like a NOT TO EVER BE MISSED occasion.
Can anyone please give me some details on the pro's and cons of alpine valley?

Its a 8000 seat Amphitheatre with room for 30K on a steep slope lawn, notorious for bad acoustics and bad views. For the 8000 lucky one, it will be awesome. For those on the lawn, guess it will be "just happy to be there"0

Negatives:
All US Amphitheaters(of this style) suck for sound
Only 9,000 seats and 40,000 lawn tickets
You are an hour or 2 from any type of Civilization
At least an hour from the 2 major airports
Positives:
Pearl Jam is playing
I have my rooms booked already(If it is indeed on Labor Day Weekend)Member 164xxx

It doesn't matter where they have this thing, people on here are going to complain. I'm happy that they are just having a 20th anniv fest, at least until I see the ticket prices
I've never been there, but besides the steep lawn and sound issues that people already mentioned, I've heard some complaints about just the location (not being close enough to a bigger city, hotels, etc), not room for enough people, and taking forever getting in and out of the parking lot.1998 - Noblesville

It's not just me. The entire Alpine Valley Resort is booked for Labor Day Weekend and the weekend before because of PJ fans. I only lose $25 per room if I cancel. It was a no brainer.Member 164xxx

What's the best place to book a hotel? I'm guessing the answer is no where because I'm already too late?If hope can grow from dirt like me ...0 -
Negative: It is in the US and not in Portugal... Major fault!!!! ; )0

Looks like 450 people will be able to camp on site. http://gazettextra.com/news/2011/mar/01 ... ne-valley/ Not really too helpful. Was expecting full parking lot camping like back in the day with the Dead (which is why they nixed camping for so many years).0

I grew up about 20 minutes from there, in northern Illinois. Woodstock and Crystal Lake Illinois are only about an hour from alpine. They are also an hour to Ohare airport in Chicago. I know that is a little bit of driving but very easy to get to both. Milwaukee is only 40 minutes and is also an easy drive to Alpine.
I haven't been there in a while so I'm not sure if that area has grown any. I doubt it did.
Hope that helps.0 -

See, now that I would bitch about. I always found both Doc and Captain Steubing's kid annoying. And Charlie's Angels are hair-obsessed.
Isaac the bartender is pretty cool, though. SPAC has a lawn that is even worse than alpine
plus it's too easy to get into the pav without a pav ticket, it would get way crowded and PJ fans aren't the kind of crowd who can handle that"If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: The only proof he needed for the existence of God was music." KV Jr.0 -
