Hard Sun...everything about the live performance was killer - from the clouds in the background, to the labcoat to the dancing - it just works - hope if makes its way into the PJ set.

    And finally

4- Betterman- love the fills, energy, crowd sing along, etc live.

Betterman - mansfield 3 - hearing the audience singing the whole first verse was awsome.

In My Tree - MSG 2003 - only from the video/boots. i hope to catch it at one of the shows this year. I loved the intro riff Ed did for the song.

Ledbetter - anytime I have seen this live it has been good. listening to the boots, it reminds me of who was there and what happened that night. a good closer to a good show.

For me, it was Leash at Camden 1 in 2006. I always liked the song, but to finally hear it live (second time played since forever) and the response from the crowd..... Man, it was like listening to Vs for the first time again. Spec-tac-u-lar!
    ...just got a fresh bottle.

Faithful - It was an afterthought to me when the album came out, but when I saw them perform it live on the Yield Tour in Raleigh, it clicked instantly. I was singing along as if it was an old familiar favorite. One of my favorite moments at my first show. Haven't heard it live since. Hopefully that will change in June.

    sleight of hand...

its just one of those mediocre songs on an album that you know will be much better once heard live
it's largely due to eddie that i liked to jump off of things as a child...

    alive.

the energy and power behind it with certain crowds is amazing. not my favorite song, by any means, but i didn't really appreciate it that much until seeing it live.

now at least i get it and can really enjoy it live.

God's Dice, like Binaural as an album, but God's Dice doesn't really stand out to me, but everytime I hear it live it does. Love it live...

Mine are probably Whipping, Love Boat Captain, and I guess Crazy Mary. It's not that I never liked the songs, it's more that I never really bothered listening to them. Now they're big favorites when I download a new boot, among the songs I look for in the set.

I almost forgot, after hearing Release open my first ever show, it became one of my favorites instantly. Whenever I listened to Ten, after Deep, I was on such a hard rock high, that I never bothered with Release because it was too slow for me right after Deep, so I never bothered with it. How foolish of me. What a song.

I have had a few experiences in which I didn't fully appreciate a PJ song until seeing it played live.

The first and most blatant is "In Hiding." For some crazy reason, I never really paid attention to it on Yield. Then, I sent to my first PJ show -- Missoula, Montana 1998 -- and it was the highlight of the set. The power of the song struck me and carried me to a whole new place. Since then, it has been in the upper echelon of PJ songs in my mind.

Another is "Hard to Imagine." Hearing it at the Santa Barbara Bowl in '06 was awesome and completely upped my opinion of the song.

Finally, I was pretty neutral on "I am Mine" until hearing it at Ed's solo shows. Goddamn it is a powerful, intense song! I might have never realized it if Ed hadn't chosen to bust it out at his solo gigs.

Interested to hear any similar experiences...
mine would be DTE. cant stand the studio version but LOVVVE it live!!!

smile - no code is # in my book and i always liked this song but seeing it live and listening to Ed whale on the harmonica live took this song to a whole new level for me.
anyone else see this live and feel the same?

No! but I need to - this is one of my favs, would LOVE to hear this live.

For me it would be Education, never took any notice of this on the CD but really love it since hearing it live....

Also Bu$hleaguer, really disliked it to start with, but is was starting to grow on me, then saw it at Wembley - it was so much better live, love the guitar intro
