Nascar sucks, but this is just mean, and incredibly stupid.

    Extremely original too.

Honest to god, all kidding aside....I want to know how many Nascar fans there are on this board. There can't possibly be more than what.....10? MAYBE 15?
Give a shout out if you're a Nascar fan!

P.S. I for one am NOT a Nascar fan....quite the opposite, actually.

Nothing like Nascar to bring out the elitist motherfuckers from the northeast.

Jeez, you deny being a Nascar fan like a Nascar fan is some sort of racist/pedophile/nazi or something. So you hate Nascar then? Why would you hate Nascar? Why wouldn't you just ignore it rather than hate it?

This elitism is now gone to the extent where you can't be a Pearl Jam fan and a Nascar fan?

Nice article. I wasn't a NASCAR fan for a long time but a friend turned me onto it a few years ago. I in turn turned him onto hockey. :) It's cool to see PJ references in random places. Go Kasey Kahne!:D

NASCAR is awesome, but those stereotypical fans are out there, so I just shrug stuff like this off. I forget which station, but one of them would play Comatose during the coverage of races, now that was cool.

im a nascar fan so what!!

i agree, the elitisim is out of hand around here.

if i make a crack about NBA fans being thugs or something like that , i would be a racist.

people making cracks about nascar fans parents being siblings is not much different.

    what a crock!

p.s. about 75% of the crew chiefs in nascar have engineering degrees now, they are not your stereotypical hill jack anymore.

Thank you for posting the article. Great references. I'm a diehard PJ fan and fairly serious Nascar fan. Grew up around racing , my father raced various SCCA classes and was a friend of the late Mark Donohue, and enjoy many different types of car racing. Card -carrying Libertarian and member of the shrinking middle class...yes. Elitist...no.

Cool article. Cant believe the band wasnt mentioned and wasnt any reference other than the song titles (maybe there was, I just skimmed)

I never liked NASCAR or understood why people liked it, but I dont think it is dumb to like it or insult the fans. It's just I cant find a reason to enjoy it which is fine. I am sure it is fascinating live and I've never been. I dont enjoy watching baseball and most sports on TV because I get so bored, so maybe if I went to a race I would understand NASCAR.....maybe someday.

I don't understand how people who like pearl jam and their environmentally friendly message could support a sport that sends such an unsustainable message.

Gas guzzling cars driving around for hours? Now if it was a light rail race or bike race, I could see how you people could get into it.

I am sure that most of those mechanics have engineering degrees but I would be interested to see statistics about nascar fans and their level of education.

I am a NASCAR fan, but that is not my reason for replying. "Spin the Black Circle" runs weekly, and they are always the same songs. He probably mentioed something about the band in the early running of the article, but not much need to reiterate it now.

What is there to like about NASCAR? All I can say is if you'd go to a race, you'd probably see it a little differently. It isn't as much the racing as it is the event in its entirety. But I was narrowminded as well before I became a fan, so I don't blame anyone else for their mindset.
