this post is total garbage. lock!!!
  • I think it's dumb you didn't tell us "How you learned to hate Sleight of Hand".

    You seem grumpy.

I'm not a surfer but Big Wave is a great song to me. It's all about feeling the song, not where it is on the album, or if it has any direct effect on me.

Sleight of Hand one of my favorite songs.

my favorite pearl jam songs are now: every song mentioned in the 1st post of this thread.
  • Sleight of hand is the "black sheep" of binaural if you will... I was indifferent towards it at first but after familiarizing myself with the different riffs and the words... i love this song...and love it live too.

Unrelated... I fucking LOVE severed hand... LOVE IT.

what's the sense of this thread? Don't get me wrong. Each and everyone his/her own opinion. But why the rant about one of your 'favorite bands'? If you want to stir some anger and get a few foes on this forum, you're doing a great job
You can spend your time alone, re-digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize
You're the only one who can't forgive yourself

All the other songs you give an explanation as to why they are your "least" favorite on the album. But you totally diss Sleight without an explanation. What? Some girlfriend dump you and that song reminds you of her? Please explain.

The man has a right to speak his mind.

However, Sleight of Hand is one of my favorite PJ songs.

    DUDE!

You have the right to speak your mind!
I’ve been spending all my time since news of the destination weekend constantly checking for any updates in regards to the late summer concert. Or worrying if there will be any concert at all now that theres news of Soundgarden “feeling good” about their jam sessions and putting together a new album. So I need to take my mind off my late summer plans. I came up with a list.

Please remember: Pearl Jam is my favorite band of all time. I am taking the perspective of each individual album as a whole. And the criteria of “worst” song is the one on the album that is “Least Best”. Even the worst PJ song is better than the best Creed song.

Ten: “Jeremy”. I know, how could one of the bands biggest radio/video hits also be the worst song on the album? Simply over exposure. Radio killed that song for me.

Five Agaist One (VS): “Indifference”. This song always kills this album for me. I think they should have switched the position of this one with “Leash” and have the album end with a rawker. Indifference just kind of lets all the air out of a great album

Vitalogy: Oh man, where to start…I think the general public considers Vitalogy the pinnacle of Pearl Jam’s officially released music but it is probably my least favorite record. It is definitely divided into good songs (Last Exit, Not For You, Tremor Christ, Nothingman, Corduroy, Satan’s Bed, Better Man), bad songs (Spin the Black Circle, Whipping, Pry, To, Aye Davanita, Immortality) and ugly songs (Bug’s, Hey Foxymop…). I think my least favorite song now, and my least favorite from the day I first put the album into my CD player (and I do remember the day) has to be “Spin the Black Circle”. Although the last three tracks on the record sort of lead the listener off into nowhere. “STBC” live, though, is killer. But then this isn’t a list of the best/worst live songs. Only songs from officially released studio albums.

No Code: ahh, this is what I consider Pearl Jam’s best album. So many great songs on this record and the context in when the album was released coinciding with my freshman year at college just make for great memories. But, if I did have to single out one song that I would consider the worst “I’m Open” takes the cake. I could never understand why they included the speaking part in the song. I would also have switched its position with Mankind to have the album not end with two slow tempo numbers.

Yield: My favorite album…which I think is different from their “best” album. Also the tour for this album is when I started to see the band’s shows. Christ…so many great songs on this one. And I think also it’s the best production as far as sounding, for all the albums. But there is a worst song on this album, and it’s name is “Push Me, Pull Me”. For probably the same reason as “I’m Open” listed above. It takes away all the momentum that “In Hiding” provides.

Binaural: “Sleight of Hand”. I shouldn’t even have to go into detail…

Riot Act: This record unquestionably has a lull in the middle. I think “Thumbing My Way” is one of the best songs the band has played, but then “You Are”, “Get Right”, “Green Disease” (to some extent) and “Help Help” almost put me to sleep before “Bu$hleaguer” and “1/2 Full” set it right again. For this one it’s really a toss up between “You Are” and “Help Help”. “You Are” has some of the worst lyrics in a Pearl Jam song, but “Help Help” has one of the most annoying choruses. So…oh shit, you decide.

Avocado: “Big Wave”. I live in the middle of the country equidistant from either Ocean. The surfer analogy is lost on me.

Backspacer: “Speed of Sound”. I don’t need Eddie as a lounge act singer in my life. At least at this particular juncture of my life.

This was more fun than checking for updates for the PJ20 concert.

I always thought Push Me Pull Me, I'm Open and Sleight of Hand are some of their best and certainly most interesting songs! Especially I'm Open - kind of reminds me of Godspeed You! Black Emperor for some reason ... :)

I agree with you on the last 3 albums (Big Wave, Speed of Sound, You Are - you're def right about the lyrics) - I like Help² though.

My least favs on each album:

    Ten - Deep
Vs. - Leash (REALLY hard to pick, but this one sticks out)
Vitalogy - Whipping (only counting the "real" songs)
    No Code - Red Mosquito
Yield - No Way (again, not counting Dot/Untitled)
    Binaural - Evacuation
    Riot Act - Bushleaguer
    Avocado - Big Wave
    Backspacer - Speed of Sound
    Lost Dogs/B-Sides - All Night
