By '95 CD's were probably already dominating over tapes. So I would say CD was the medium of choice when self pollution aired. So the fact it's being released as a casette doesn't really gel with the era (allthough alot of people were using tapes in '95, it was definitely on the decline, as CD was so superior).

Tapes were more a thing of the 80's and early 90's.

Yes and no. In 95, tapes were on the decline except for one thing. Few people, at that time, could write music on a CD. I remember I was still using tapes when I needed to record music. :)

exactly. How many of us in '95 recorded the Self Pollution/Monkeywrench broadcasts onto cassettes? So I think it's appropriate for the box set.

The problem was in '95 I'd already put a cd player in my car which pretty much rendered tapes useless to me :( Couldn't have the best of both worlds at the time.
Should've done what I did. Tape player head deck and CD shuttle in the back ;)

They still have it (deluxe 'n all) at at least one (are there more? ;) ) plain clothes record (what a misnomer in general, though....) shop here in Norway (!)......could have saved the shipping (which tends to be 2/3 of the the total price :( ....as I said, Norway.

The market for PJ vinyl has sky-rocketed waaaay beyond any other comparable band.....if they continue down the path of re-re-reaper-releases, methinks the people paying up towards $200 for Binaural etc. could put their money to better use......hate the negative potential ethical loss as PJ fans start hating themselves for their materialism, and record shop owners (a sly, but necessary part) with unknown moral compass take charge of those dollars.....

I get the error "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator" when I choose international from the pj main site to take a look at the vs/vitalogy pre-order site. Same thing for a few days already. They don't get many orders if people can't find the direct link to sonydigital.

I say European TC'ers boycott the whole thing.......

A drunken Brendan O's brainchild; never seen a word from any member of the band discussing it...

    And totally off-topic :
If this is the fan-club headquarters, where is the dialog between band and us??!

Really sorry for this, but stumbled upon this information; no relevance, just interesting (I hope... ) :
Ten Club LLC are estimated to have sales of $5mill-$10mill,
and their SIC code is : Misc Non-Durable Goods Nec (Whls)

    Non-durable?? What!!? :)

I'd hate to think the average PJ fan would pull themselves away from such an awesome release because of minor quibles about cassette vs CD and price. Price when broken down per item seems pretty damn reasonable from my perspective

I believe that those lucky ones in the US don't put any VAT at the price of their product except if you buy it from the same state (Washington state citizens pay some local tax?). Can someone confirm? How about Canada: do they have some VAT there? As Europeans puts VAT (value added tax) on products (avarage tax ~20% I guess). The difference is probably explained by this + an incorrect exchange rate (and according to Santos Sony probably take a wild guess on what the exchange rate might be in March; here's the quote from Santos: "i could guess that it's based on what sony thinks the dollar will be in two months when they buy their stock from the Ten Club, but that would be a guess".

The communication between Ten Club and Sony seems to work very well and we have to remember that it is pearljam.com that sells the thing but Sony sets the price :D:D:D

If it is the final art-
I wonder why they chose the vs. (sheep) image for the Super Deluxe cover
    instead of the Vitalogy image....

Talking about how limited it is and if it's exclusively sold from pearljam.com: didn't they also say that when they announced the Ten - Collectors edition box set? I have a feeling they announced that when the Ten Box set came and that it will only be available from pearljam.com and this wasn't clearly the case. I also remember the world limited and it's still available worldwide...

It might be that they are milking the early cows (or however that expression goes) with an intentional lie and say say something like: "Well it's exclusive to pearljam.com in the way that this is the only place where you can get those 6 bonus tracks from the Orpheum show if you pre-order  ...

...didn't they also say that when they announced the Ten - Collectors edition box set?...

Indeed. 2 emails were sent from the 10c of which the first one said - or certainly made it sound like (due to it's wording) - that the Ten Super Deluxe would be 10c only. With that in mind (and due to the fact that we have had several 10c only items in the past) I ordered mine straight away & then didn't bother checking the 2nd email regarding the set as I felt confidentof my previous decision to make the purchase & presumed no further attention to the matter as required. It was in the 2nd email that the details were subtly changed.

When my box arrived I got done for over £30 in fees (as I ordered early, the item was shipped early & so I had already paid my fees before the advice - as posted in the forums - came from 10c to NOT pay the fees & that 'something' would be sorted out). This took the total to something close to £50 MORE than what HMV were selling it for. I was gutted & quite annoyed.

With the Vs / Vitalogy set being £150+ after shipping, I can easily see this hitting between £180 & £200 due to the recent VAT rise & depending on which carrier handles the package.

Having said all of the above, I am happy to order this as I am a collector & have been since the early days (it's a great set with some cool extras) and on the proviso that this stay exclusive to 10c members. BUT if this set appears anywhere else such as Amazon.com (cheaper shipping & charges due to choice of carrier) or over in the UK through HMV, Amazon or Play, I'll be most unhappy. I will want to be notified if the plans change & the band or Sony decide to offer it in other territories so that I can cancel the order from the US & get a full refund.

    Oh, and 1 last thing...

10c - What's the point of being on a mailing list & joining a fan club if we don't get notified about these things in advance? I don't have all day to trawl through all the websites of the bands I love to see if anything new has popped-up. A simple notification with a purchase link would have been all I required for such a pivotal development.

Yay!! :P Just put my order in for my very own DELUXE VS. and VITALOGY CD PRESALE. Now I just have to wait.. 8-) March 29/11 will be here before we know it.. And Spring will be here shortly after. So sick of all this cold and snow.

 On another note: WOW maybe we should change the name to 10c for complainers. :( Why is it so easy to be negative? I just don't get it. Why is everyone so miserable with everything :?:
Life is in Session- friggin enjoy it. It'll be over before you know it.

    Cheers

as for how limited it may be, there were about 10,000 copies of the super deluxe sold in the first week, which would account for presales and whatnot. (per billboard)

considering it is still fairly available, i would guess it's not that limited. and since the "limited" live on ten legs seems to be numbered over 10,000, i would imagine that the vs/vitalogy super deluxe would probably not be all that limited either.

Maybe they should start doing things correctly and communicating. Then people wouldn't be miserable. It's not the complainers fault.
