Still have it. Eco-Pak. Remember asking my mom to pick it up for me on the day it came out. I had a test in school and couldn't miss it. She got there early and was first in line at Strawberries in Brockton, MA. (now closed). She said that there was a line of people behind her waiting on the sidewalk. Employees came out and handed people a ticket to buy a cd because they only had so many. She said people were going nuts who did not get a ticket. All I can say is thank you mom for standing in line for me!
Come to think of it - I still have all my original pj cd's.
Me too. I've still got the tri-fold pack that I bought when it came out and a silver disc jewel case version (without vs on the spine) that I had as a birthday present. My wife has still got her original orange disc one and we've both got our original vinyl lps too!

I still have mine. I got it the first week but it is in a regular case. That CD is sitting with the rest of my PJ stuff proudly displayed in my living room. I have no idea how that CD still plays! I regard VS as the greatest album ever recorded. Oh and I picked up one of the cardboard ones a few weeks ago for $2.50 at the Exchange. My brother still has his original tri fold one as well.
I still have my original, cardboard, tri-fold, no title, orange disc Vs cd.
I remember going with a friend to the midnight release to get it at a place called Quansenhut. I lived in Cleveland (Berea) at the time & I think the record store was in Middleburg Hts. Not sure if it's there anymore. I bought my Vs LP the same night.
We went to the same record store for the midnight release of Vitalogy & No Code also. Same as before, I bought the LPs along with the cds & I still do have those. I do remember they were handing out special Pearl Jam shirts to "celebrate" the midnight release. I missed getting the Vitalogy shirt by a few people but I got the one for No Code, and yes, I still have the t-shirt here somewhere.
Anyone else here in the same line as me or get either of the shirts ?
Oh, and as someone also said before, we had the cds playing before we left the parking lot. I still remember putting in the disc and listening to "Last Exit" for the first time on our way home. I remember being so excited at the time. Same goes for the night of Vs release, even though we had already heard "Go" & "Animal" before.

I have not only my original cd, buy also the vinyl.
Won the vinyl on a radio contest.
Friends and I went to Detroit for the midnight sale. Ahhhh, university days.
I have the original eco-pak version, but I bought it from a used record store about 12 or 13 after it came out. I bought it for less than $10, the price of a normal used CD. I don't think the guy realized he had something rare... I wonder how much people would be willing to pay for it?
The copy I originally bought is in a plastic case but doesn't say "vs" on it, just "pearl jam". I bought it about a week after it was released, because that's when I got my allowance.
but i do have my original copy .. and is it really rare like most of you guys are saying ?
I don't see how an album that sold 900,000 copies the first week could be rare.

I was a sophomore in high school, and I skipped class to go pick this cd up. Of course, I didn't go back to school until we all heard the album in its entirety.

Never had the gatefold CD I don't think. I have the jewel case. When vs came out I was a vinyl only freak - but the vinyl came out A WEEK BEFORE THE CD!! [edit: I think. Am I right?] So I was gloating!! Still have my original vinyl, plus one or two more pristine replacements I picked up on the way. Different cover at first I believe

Still have mine...I was living in Japan at the time it came out, and bought mine at a local record store. It was in a jewel case, with no title at all. Inside, it had a tri-fold insert in the front of the jewel case with the album cover, as well as a mini-booklet, that had the lyrics in English and Japanese. The actual disc said "Pearl Jam" near the bottom, and had the song titles printed on it as well.
Which drummer is on the back of that five against one??
That's a tough one...it's obviously not Krusen or Abbruzzese, but it doesn't look like Matt Chamberlain either. Chamberlain did use a 3-tom set up on his drum kit like the one shown, but his cymbal set up was a little different. Maybe it's some random photo the bootlegger used - I've seen some pretty weird photos in some of the import bootlegs and press releases. On that note - I sure think it's funny how a lot of the "true" bootlegs I have, have copyright and unauthorized reproduction warnings on 'em!

Been playing my original Vitalogy all day and it sounds perfect. I have two copies of Vs and neither of them skip - the only problem with the first one was that I screwed it up through overplaying and not caring for it and now it sounds like it has been attacked with sandpaper. Is your tonearm weight correct? Maybe you have it set too light....

Me too. All midnight sales except Ten and Backspacer. Pretty sure I even still have the "long box" Ten came in. Remember those?
those cardboard 'security' boxes? yeah...I had a Ten one too...along with Nevermind, REM, and a bunch of others...they got tossed out by the psycho freak I lived with.
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.
