A question about the "Jamily Posters"

edited June 2008 in The Porch
This has kept me up nights for so long, so I come to you today for answers. Please all, enlighten me.

Pray tell, what makes one Jamily poster "amazing" versus another Jamily poster hated?

There will be one Jamily poster with a kid's face with a duck quacking on his head or something like that, and "It's amazing! It's art! I'm inspired to live off-grid, buy from grocery co-ops, wear New Balance shoes, and save the environment!" and then another Jamily Poster will come out (like those SF 06 posters) and it'll be be hated and the buyers of said Jamily Poster ridiculed into embarrassment, never to be heard from again, exiled from the Jamily.

From what I understand, to not revile the SF06 Jamily Posters is akin to not becoming enraged at someone for using the term "black" instead of "African American." You just have to do it.

Folks, enlighten. I'll sit back & listen.

Its excessive useage is very much intentional.

We're talking about JAMILY POSTERS, here. Serious.

Jamily kinda makes me cringe a little - in all seriousness, I collect the ones I like irrespective of the general consensus around here. I'll come out and say it, I don't love DC 06' and don't get why everyone else does. That said, I have a SF 06 (7.16.06) on my wall in my office because I like the image and the message.

All those posters that the Jamily lines up and buys up for. Come on, you know what a Jamily Poster is.

IMO its a matter of taste...

I dont see why other people would feel the need to ridicule someone that buys a poster they find hideous ...

I buy posters only for the shows I went to (except for Dusseldorf, couldn't resist that one) so while there are some I love, there is one I don't love that much but still plan on framing... :D

Haha, I thought you were talking about the ones the fans did for the Deep contest. :) Most of those were incredible! Re the PJ posters, it's all subjective. Some are liked due to venue, artist, subject matter, value, etc., but it comes down to the art and if you're drawn to it or not. I've just always liked poster art and have been collecting since the 60's. :)

I had to go to dictionary.com to see what jamily meant, and when I did, this is what I found:

    jamily (jam-ill-ee)- noun
    1. the stupidest word ever

Never seen a jamily poster. The band prints posters, but I've never seen about the jamily. Maybe you should ask on the jamily website.

If anyone ever asks me if I'm in the Jamily, I will:

A: Give them a blank expression indicating that I have no idea what they are talking about.

    AND

B: Punch them in the throat.

With a name like that I know who you are. You are Matt Roloff from "Little People, Big World", huh.

I turned 35 over the weekend and now I have to start taking Viagra for my old age. Until I build up a tolerence, I'm happy to see everyone! Well, at least they think so....

Well Happy Birthday to you! :)

And, I hope someone finds it in their heart to give you a Jamily Poster for your birthday (but not any from SF06, of course).

I've never actually seen a Jamily Poster (to the best of my knowledge/recollection), so I'm not sure I'd recognize one if they did...

Much like Randall, I'm going to "take back" the word "Jamily".

You will see me all at future shows with my Pearl Jam Shirt on and a piece of duct tape on my back that says "Jamily-Member".

    :D
