Howard Stern Show's constant Pearl Jam praise, suddenly
For all the Howard Stern Show listeners out there, do you love all the Pearl Jam that gets dropped in?
This morning their was a Robin parody song to "Betterman"
Fred constantly plays PJ coming back from breaks, so does Teddy at the end of the Wrap-Up show (brother instrumental seems to be his fav -- Fred seems to really like Even Flow).
Everyday, Jay Thomas' promo is State of Love and Trust
Howard and Robin and Fred constantly praise what good music Pearl Jam makes, although Howard does have some comments about them not doing anything anymore, that is just his way, and he still likes the music,... he has admitted many times his favorite song is "Glorified G".... Robin has recently commented that she would love to see them play. I love the one time Howard sang "Jeremy" with auto-tune... funny stuff.
Howard says he would love to interview Eddie, but is afraid Eddie will clam up and be a miserable interview..... I hope not, but he may be right... I can't see the two getting along. However, while listening to the show, it is awesome hearing the PJ shout outs, and the cuts peppered into the show!

that pretty much sums it up perfectly. he's a big PJ fan but not familiar with the newer stuff
However, EV would never work as an interview on the show. Not even close. If EV and PJ wanted to appear on the show (with no stipulations), Howard would have them on in a second.
+1

I think that sums up most people outside of this board.
And Howard has been complimenting pearl jam for years so it has nothing to do with them both being on Sirius.
jeremy autotune was before pj radio. i agree with the OP; all of the pearl jam references existed before pj radio.
howard does not promote anything he doesn't need to.
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.
I like both Stern and Pearl Jam. And sandwiches now that I think about it.
A while back listening to Rosie O'Donnell's radio show, she had a staffer who was a huge fan and needed to be at a computer to get tickets through the 10C pre-sales. It was pretty funny - I think Rosie ended up getting him tix to the MSG show(s) ... forget the guy's name though.
That'd be a funny bit - to record someone going through the trials of securing pre-sale tickets to an MSG show...good times
Howard Goofs On Bernie Kopell. An excerpt from the MarksFriggin.com Archives reads:
9/20/02. 7:55am
Howard spent a few minutes killing some time because actor Bernie Kopell hadn't called in yet. He talked about last night's ''Survivor'' and how he likes it already. He seems to think the show is holding up just fine.
Howard took a call about the upcoming ''It's Just Wrong'' game next week. Earlier this week they played the game where couples compete against each other and end up stripping down. Howard said next week the couples will be only brother and sister couples. He said that's really just wrong. He said the grand prize will be $10,000!
Howard mentioned what he had planned for Bernie Kopell who was the doctor on ''The Love Boat.'' Howard said he was going to take the questions that Cane and Cabbie asked Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam earlier this week and use them for his interview with Bernie. He rehearsed it for a little while but Bernie didn't call in when he was supposed to. One listener got pissed that Howard was still talking about the Cane and Cabbie thing so Howard said he should just stick with it because it would be good.
Bernie called in about 25 minutes late. Howard's first question was one of the Cane and Cabbie questions and it was about what he's thinking about these days. Bernie said he wasn't worried all that much, he's just dealing with his 2 year old child. He's 69 years old. Howard continued to ask Bernie the questions that Cane and Cabbie asked Eddie Vedder and Bernie answered them like they were normal questions. Bernie did seem to skirt around the actual questions Howard was asking and he had plenty to say. Howard even threw in the questions that Cane and Cabbie took from some e-mails they got. They had nothing to do with Bernie but he still answered them. Bernie kept getting back to his kids and would talk about them until Howard would interrupt him. Bernie was taking it all pretty well even though the questions seemed to confuse him a little bit. Howard gave Bernie a plug for a movie called ''Blood Head'' which is coming this fall. Bernie also mentioned some resort called Festiva and gave a phone number for it 1-877-8FUNFUN.
After getting off the phone Howard said he felt bad goofing on the guy like that. He seemed to be a fan of Howard's and the questions threw him off. Howard said he wished he could interview the guy again to do a real interview. At one point Bernie mentioned that his best friend is Grant Tinker which Howard just blew off at the time. He said he'd like to talk to him about that stuff. Stuttering John came in and said that he thinks it's funnier just to leave it the way they left it and not interview him again.
One woman called in and said that Howard is just jealous about Cane and Cabbie's interview with Pearl Jam. Howard said he actually feels sorry for Cane and Cabbie because they were restrained from asking the band certain questions and they had to treat Eddie Vedder like he was the President or something.
Howard spent a few minutes talking about this teacher who recently got jail time for having sex with her 15 year old student. Howard said he thinks she did the kid a favor and the kid is probably thrilled. He said he wished one of his teachers would have done that to him when he was in school because he would have had more confidence in himself. Robin seemed to think he was nuts and this is just wrong for a teacher to do.

Thank Fred for all the PJ during the show. I love Howard, but his music knowledge can be lacking & he definitely doesn't keep up with the new stuff. I think there's a good chance Cameron Crowe shows up on Howard when he's out promoting the movie & book. And even though I'd love it, I don't think PJ is coming on anytime soon.

howard just kinda asked the obvious question - if it doesn't mean anything, why are you there?? and saying eddie was trying hard to seem tortured and all that kind of stuff, and that he was so nervous he almost scratched a hole in his head...and i remember he made fun of mike for sounding like a high school kid when he took the mic
i also remember hearing that howard played almost all of No Code on his show right before it was released, and i was kicking myself for missing that! this was back before the Internet took off and we had things like leaked tracks, kids...
He's a great interviewer because he will ask any question, but too often he goes the sex question route when a lot of times there are much more interesting things to ask the person. He cuts people off too. The Steven Tyler interview last week was interesting, but Tyler was about to tell a story about how he and Joe Perry write the setlist and Howard went onto a completely different topic. I don't listen to his interviews much anymore unless it is someone I really like. I love the other aspects of the show, the interplay with the staff.
I have that show...I can isolate that part & put up a link if later today
