Yeah, and for me it also depends on the song. In Hiding, one of my favorite songs, sounds sped up on Live on Ten Legs, and I absolutely love that version. Even Flow is way too fast IMO
one of my favourite songs ever
I still love it now but sometimes it just feels too too fast
I understand that it's boring for them to play the same songs 20 years later, but there are other ways to vary a song.
I love Matt's drumming though0 -
They slow Lukin down...they play a few other things faster - it all balances out

I don't know how anybody could possibly listen to Walk with Me and Dancing Barefoot from the last Bridge school, and think that Eddie is not at least as good a singer as he ever was, if not better - with a far deeper emotional range. When I watched and then listened to those songs it only confirmed my view that Eddie is the best singer alive today, by a country mile in my opinion - he has reached a level which very few other vocalists have ever reached. Into the Wild is another outstanding example of how good his singing has become in his later years.Cancel my subscription to the Ressurection

It's true his voice has changed, and the power of the early years was the big attraction. When I first heard the song 'Against the 70s' on the Mike Watt album at the time I was really disappointed that it didn't have the 'operatic' quality that I associated with his voice. I listened to it the other day and I loved it. I have listened to a lot more punk rock since then, so could appreciate more what he was trying to do with the vocals.
I think a lot of the early songs were written for being sung in the operatic style he was famous for - and I'm sure he couldn't recreate that sound very easily today. His voice still has massive range and depth though which you can hear especially on the studio work. I do think he is a bit bored with some of the songs, like evenflow - it is hard to squeeze the same feeling into a song after so many times of playing, and it becomes more of a showcase for the rest of the band. A few of the early songs I do feel Ed can almost get hypnotised these days, and he is just going through the motions.
What Dancing Barefoot and Walk with Me were a reminder of though is just how skilled a singer Eddie is, in arranging things and singing them in a way which generates a hell of a lot of feeling.
The fast songs have a more punky style these days.
The vocals on Public Image on the new LOXL for example - as good as anything he has done! Fast, menacing, growling, punky, vitriolic. What a vocalist. Outstanding vocals on fast LOXL songs also on STBC, SOLAT, and dark twisted but more subtle on RVMCancel my subscription to the Ressurection

I think I missed a number of months back then with my 10C membership lapsing, and because in England we never seem to get 'seniority' it didn't seem too big a deal at the time I rejoined to make a fuss about it. God knows how long I wasn't a member, can't remember - maybe 6 months. I think I first joined in either 1999 or 2000 - I certainly had Ten Club tickets for London 2000. This is something thats always kinda bothered me about certain songs. I totally agree with the assertions that evenflow, given to fly and corduroy are usually always way too fast. They just lack feeling when played like that. One thing I've always kinda disliked is Yellow Ledbetter. Always sounds great live but it seems to have almost taken on a different sound altogether. I love when I'm listening to PJ radio and a version comes on from '93. It sounds so much more bluesy and closer to the studio version. I gave up on Even Flow long ago, it's always my pee break/bar run song now - you can guarantee it's going to be played at break-neck speed, and it goes on for like ten minutes.
Now that SVT is mentioned - I feel the same way about 'In Hiding'. Makes me sad.0
