Just wondering...how many bands have Shannon Hoon/Blind Melon references in their songs... Have bcome a huge Avett Bros. fan and discovered a refernece in their song "Smoke in our lights"

    Avett fan here too. On their Austin City Limits show they mentioned how they were huge '90's grunge fans and that it inspired them to write songs with good lyrics that mean something. I guess it wouldn't surprise me then if there are some related references in their songs.

    I heard today while listening to Sirius/xm radio that their NYE show will be broadcast live on channel 18 (the Spectrum), if you got it.

    HUGE Avett Brothers fan! Rock on! Smoke in Our Lights is not one of my top/favorites, but I do love some of the analogies. One of the reasons I care for them so much is because of their down-to-Earth, real life lyrics. Can always apply to what I'm feeling. Maybe that is something they have in common with PJ :) Plus they absolutely ROCK live.

    I thought they were alright until I heard that song about a January wedding. Made me want to barf. Sorry! By the way...where's the Pearl Jam reference??? ;)

    I'm a big Avett Bros fan. I have most of their albums. They have great lyrics. Obviously, they'll never take over for PJ in my mind, but they are a great band that is actually saying something, which is more than I can say for most of the shitty music out there right now.

    I LOVE the Avett Brothers. Great band with some awesome song writing as well. I'm bummed that I haven't had a chance to see them live yet either.
