So far nothing really, other than brendan o'brien producing it, and I think Mike said they have about 4 or 5 songs done (don't quote me on that last part... he may have said "ideas" and not "songs")...
that's about it.0 -
any date rumours0
-
just speculation, really.
people think it could be late 2008, early 2009, or that pearl jam could just pull a radiohead/raconteurs and go "the album is ready. it will be sold next week."
though that would be awesome, for some reason I doubt pearl jam would do that...0 -
They'd rather string their fans along like sheep.Hello, is there anybody in there?0
-
soon i hope, watching picture in a frame and cant wait for more0

My advice to the boys: Take your time! Listen to some old Neil Young (like you obviously did before recording Vitalogy) and let it flow!
Wouldn't it be better to get an absolutely stellar album in '10 than a mediocre one in '09?0 -
Mike says "Some of it's kind of poppy and some of it's a little hard. We want it to grow up a little bit. We have to revisit it a few times."
"Brendan works really fast," bassist Jeff Ament has told Billboard.com. "He's a super pro. I've always felt, working with him, that he understood me as a bass player and that's not always easy. A lot of producers are there to please the singer. But I've always had a great rapport with him. I can tell him I want something to sound like the O'Jays or Led Zeppelin or PJ Harvey and he gets it."
Though only "four or five" songs are complete so far, McCready said the band hopes to release the record in 2008.
"We've had one session of writing and it has yielded ... about five ideas so far," McCready said during a conference call with reporters about this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tenn., which Pearl Jam will headline on June 14.

Theres a big difference between complete and ideas - i wonder if its a trick. But good news is maybe 2008!
What's crazy it is has been over 2 years since last release, can't believe it. I say jam this one out raw and start another one next year. No time to waste. Better yet do the double and then release another B sides.HOB 10.05.2005, E Rutherford 06.03.2006, The Gorge 07.22.2006, Lolla 08.05.2007, West Palm 06.11.2008, Tampa 06.12.2008, Columbia 06.16.2008, EV Memphis 06.20.2009, New Orleans 05.01.2010, Kansas City 05.03.20100 -

I'm worried about 'kind of poppy'.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

They're gonna want to do the full promotion deal because they are afraid they are slowly losing fans (and more importantly, money). That's why there's no more bootlegs. They are slowly but surely selling out.I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

slowly??
past tense
self - titled was the epitome of sold out
track one ... faded out = sold out0 -
I hope i dont get too much grief for saying this but im actually looking forward to their "kind of poppy" ideas. Theyve been an incredible band for so many years its time to get their music out to more of an audience and maybe show the population what good music actually is. Just because its "poppy" wouldnt mean they are selling out or anything. Just further growing as a band and further experimenting.5/24/06 - Boston

hmmm... theskyiscrape are reporting (or is that rumouring) that there will be bootlegs from this summer's tour...
sometimes people on here are so negative about everything i have to wonder why you bother buying the albums or going to shows if all you're going to do is moan about it all...
...no, there's nothing wrong with saying you don't like an album or show but to start criticising an album before it comes out or a tour before it's started just seems odd to me...Oh yeah? Well, I've had about enough of morons and halfwits, dolts, dunces, dullards and dumbbells - and you chowderhead yokel, you blithering hayseed, you - you've had enough of me?0 -

Well I thought there were going to be boots, too, based on Mike's comment. But I read something in another topic saying that Stone said they may not do boots. I'm not being negative, I'm speaking the truth. Personally, I've never had a problem with a band trying to be popular (a.k.a. "selling out"), although if, for Pearl Jam, part of that meant no more boots, then I'd be disappointed.I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

I don't take what Mike might have said in an interview as any indication there'll be boots, certainly not for all the shows...I hope, but I don't count on it and will have my taping recorder ready..0 -
They sold out in like 1990 or 1991 like 20 years ago. This is the USA after all, is there something wrong with that?#FHP0

can someone tell me what the definition on "SOLD OUT" means because i dont think anyone really knows.
i say that because if a band does one little thing that other bands have done or may do something differently, like being a little more 'poppy', then they are considered sold out.
lets just get rid of that word altogether shall we?there'll be time for laughin'
there's no time to cry
soon i will be leavin'
