Ok, I am sure I am not the only one that is super nervious about the MSG sale tomorrow. Hopefully we are making a bigger deal than need and it will be a breeze tomorrow.
Well maybe we can share some tips with each other in hopes to beat out the asshole brokers, who shut a tun of us out yesterday.
Here are a few of my tips:
-I read someone said that the brokers' special software locks out people in the local area so I am enlisting my Dad and brother for help, they live in Miami.
-Set up a TM account with your credit card info already saved and be sign on before the sale.
-Oh, I am also going to have 3 computers going but I have to get both MSG's and DC!
So please everyone, share all you know! so we can help each other beat the broker...

Found this site. Excellent tips for getting tickets online when they go on sale:

the main thing is to stay calm, make sure you're logged in with an account all set up. go for 'best available' and whatever you do, don't get picky and throw anything back. take the first ones that become available. otherwise, you're most likely going to get shut out because there will not be anything else that's better available....they'll be gone.
also, just let the page load and be patient when you 'buy', it may feel like forever but if you stop it or go back a page, again, you may get shut out.
gapiche?
good luck!!0 -
Yeah, don't refresh the page too much right close to the onsale. Ticketmaster has a new thing where if you refresh too much, they kick you out for a few minutes (on that computer/browser). Fucking shit-lame. Yet somehow the scalpers still get their tix and the rest of us suffer.
Also, if it gets sold out, just keep looking and trying. The last two times I've bought tickets from TM right when the onsale hits, weeks later I've looked what's available and there are seats better than the ones I got "the moment they went on sale." Fucking bullshit. They get released or credit cards rejected or some stupid shit that doesn't make any sense.ABQ 93, Las Cruces 95, ABQ 98, Bridge School 10/30/99, Lubbock 00, ABQ 00, Denver 03, State College 03, San Diego 03, Vegas 03, PHX 03, D.C. 03, Camden 7/5/03, NYC 7/8/03 + 7/9/03, Vegas 06, San Francisco 7/15/06 + 7/16/06 + 7/18/06, Kansas City 10, [EV:ABQ 11/6/12], Chicago 13, PHX 13, Denver 14--PJ24!, Telluride 16, Chicago 8/20/16, Chicago 8/18/18, Phoenix 22, Denver 22, Vegas 5/16/24

be VERY careful w/Ticketmaster not to refresh too many times too fast or now they shut you out for 24 hrs!! It used to be a few minutes, but now it's a whole day. This happened to me a few weeks ago during the foo fighters sale. And it's not just you, it's your whole IP address--my entire company was shut out on every PC!! I ended up using the wireless connection which has a different IP addy. It was bad.
Also, I don't know if they still check it, but they used to nail you for having multiple browser windows open and lock you out too. I am afraid to do that now so I don't know if it's still in effect--that was about 2 years ago that it happened to me.
Good luck everyone!!
oh and hi...my first post with this username, can't remember my old onelong time lurker though, years and years...

Yikes, now I'm even more nervous but all good tips, thanks.
I was "refreshing" for the 2mins before the pre-sale the other day, I didn't get kicked out, but I also didn't get anything. My friend (who also didn't get any tix), told me not to refresh too much as well (but I only saw that email after I'd given up). I was going to go to an outlet tomorrow, but after reading comments in other threads, have decided against that. What will be, will be. If I don't get tix tomorrow, it's not over... I know I'll end up in that venue one way or another. I'll just tell myself to breathe and be calmGlaciers melting in the dead of night and the superstars sucked into the supermassive.0 -

I know what you are talking about that has happened to me multiple times, normally I end up buy the better seats and selling the old ones... It is so annoying! But at the same time you dont want to lose the seats you first get, that is why you should search in two browsers. Read the link that was put up... it says if you get locked out by refreshing too much, just clear your cookies and you will be able to get back on.

This was copied from the site someone posted above, wish I had known this when the presale happened (I got blocked!):
You need to get to the page where the tickets will be available and continuously hit refresh on your browser starting at 3 minutes before they are scheduled to go onsale. If you get a message which says that the ticketing system is unavilable they have blocked you for submitting too many requests in a short period of time. No problem, you need to reset your cookies and start again. On IE, go to tools, internet options and delete your cookies. You will have to re-log in and start back at the event page since you deleted your log in cookie. Log in, go back to the event page and keep hitting refresh until the tickets option appears. Enter the number you want and submit. Do not try to submit another order during this processing time otherwise you will be reset and sent to the back of the line.9-28-96 Randall’s Island NY; 9-01-00 Camden NJ; 7-05-03 Camden NJ; 10-01-04 Reading PA; 10-03-05 Philly PA; 5-27-06 Camden NJ; 5-28-06 Camden NJ; 6-19-08 Camden NJ; 6-20-08 Camden NJ; 6-24-08 NYC NY; 8-7-08 EV Newark, NJ; 6-11-09 EV Philly PA; 6-12-09 EV Philly PA; 10-27-09 Philly PA; 10-28-09 Philly PA; 10-30-09 Philly PA; 10-31-09 Philly PA; 5-15-10 Hartford CT; 5-18-10 Newark NJ; 5-21-10 NYC NY; 6-21-11 EV NYC NY; 6-22-11 EV NYC NY; 6-25-11 EV Philly PA; 7-1-11 EV StL MS; 9-3-11 E Troy WI; 9-4-11 E Troy WI0 -
Instead of going for "best available", which may give you seats that are low, yeat way in the back, go for a higher level. Sometimes the best hamburger tastes better then the worst steak!0

No, that didn't help, I cleared my cookies, tried both IE and Firefox, even went to ANOTHER computer logged on as ANOTHER employee and it still blocked our entire company's IP address until 24 hrs. I called TM and the lady said when that happens you're blocked for 24 hrs. I felt bad, was hoping I didn't ruin someone else's ticket plans, I had no idea it could block the whole firm.
So now I just refresh every 10 secs instead of every 2, it seems to be ok.0 -
Go here,
http://proxy.org/
Plug in Ticketmaster.com and open as many windows as you want.
It hides the IP address.~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~0 -

It hides the IP address.
all these "tips/tricks/??" are quite funny... thanks for the laughs.
there is *NO* way to 'hide' an IP address, the only thing sites like that do is create a bottleneck for you. You're better off with your direct connection, the faster (latency wise) the better. Why you ask?? because when you use a proxy (when you don't have to), you have to submit your request to TM through the proxy... meaning instead of talking directly to TM, its like you're on a 3-way call with 2 friends, but friend B is in the middle using 2 phones and only friend B can talk to both A and C relaying the conversation, what you want is for A to be able to talk to C directly (you and TM). Not to mention all the overhead that the proxy server is having to deal with if everyone in NYC area did this. Why go thru Dallas (proxy.org) to get to Chicago (TM)??
The best "trick" is to synchronize your PC clock to an accurate time source, so that right @ XX:00:00 you can click the link and you'll be in line w/ everyone else, it also pays to be able to type fast (for those annoying challenge words). If you're late by even 10 seconds, you put yourself at a significant disadvantage and end up with crap/no seats.
Having a login/CC info stored only helps you for buying tickets for multiple shows as you don't have to submit that info to complete the transaction. Using 2 browsers fixes that as well, since they don't share the same cookie info, which is the key to all of this.
I've not been shut out of tickets I've tried for yet. The best advice I saw someone else say, was to remain calm... and by all means don't throw back seats because you don't think they're good enuff. If you *must* upgrade and deal w/ scalpers, you're better to have something to bargain with, than nothing, worst case is you keep your seats, and enjoy the show, instead of scrambling to find a way in the door.9/22-23/1998 8/9-10,12/2000 4/11-13/2003 10/8/2004 6/11-12,28,30/2008 8/12/2009 9/3-4/2011 10/11-12/2013

That was in reply to the person who had their IP blocked by Ticketmaster. So in that sense, it does hide their IP. By the way, condescending replies are not very welcome around here, well at least by me.~!~ Peace ~!~ Love ~!~ Pearl Jam ~!~0 -
I've had the instance where I bought tix during an on-sale thru TM online, and a minute or so later, better seats came up. I rolled the dice by buying the better seats, and then calling TM, claiming that my computer froze, and thus, I was unsure if the first transaction went thru. Both times, they let me decide which transaction to cancel (obviously the one with the worse seats).
However, they may insist on cancelling the 2nd order, so worst case scenario, you end up with the original seats.
Its not a sure thing, so be careful!0 -

Thats true, I know the best seats I have even gotten at a PJ show was 1st row behind the stage. Meadowlands 06, I know I will be on the phone trying to get those seats.2005: Montreal, Ottawa, Pittsburgh
