The version from Live on Two Legs... Jack does this cool thing right at the 2:19 mark. I love it, and I've never heard Matt play it like this. Is there a name for what he does there? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The LO2L version would be Matt, wouldn't it?

Oh, is it? I just assumed the Yield tour had Jack. Did he not tour with them for that?0

I don't think so. Jack left early in '98 and Matt came on for the YIELD tour.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh okay, well there goes that theory, lol.
I guess now my question would be why I don't hear Matt play that little part on any of the 2000/2003 bootlegs I've heard. It's pretty trivial (obviously) but I always listen for that part on LO2L and can't recall hearing it on any other version.0 -
LO2L is Matt.ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

Just listened to it. I don't know if there's a technical name for it aside from a "fill". It sounds like it involves 2 toms and the kick drum. Matt's expertise is in high speed tom fills.ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you.

It almost sounds like a drum roll, but involving one or two toms, and perhaps the bass, as others have said.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0

Yeah, pretty awesome fill. I think Matt changes his fills, especially on a song like Corduroy, all the time. Could be three toms in that... bounces off of the 2nd to the 3rd. Kind of a triplet.
No offense to Jack, but he could never play a fill like that. All of his fills are of the "dugga dugga dugga" style. Jack has his own style, but I think most drummers would consider Matt an absolute powerhouse over Jack.ABQ 93, Las Cruces 95, ABQ 98, Bridge School 10/30/99, Lubbock 00, ABQ 00, Denver 03, State College 03, San Diego 03, Vegas 03, PHX 03, D.C. 03, Camden 7/5/03, NYC 7/8/03 + 7/9/03, Vegas 06, San Francisco 7/15/06 + 7/16/06 + 7/18/06, Kansas City 10, [EV:ABQ 11/6/12], Chicago 13, PHX 13, Denver 14--PJ24!, Telluride 16, Chicago 8/20/16, Chicago 8/18/18, Phoenix 22, Denver 22, Vegas 5/16/24

FYI, Jack played on the Hawaii/Australia/New Zealand leg of the Yield tour and Matt played on the US legs.0
