    Here is my 10C reply.......

    HI Scott,

We are very familiar with New Zealand and love it! However, the booking agent and promoter have not added any NZ dates to this tour. We are sorry, and hope there’s a chance you can make it out to one of the OZ shows.

    Cheers,
    10c

What a lame reply!! Not really answering our questions

AND they're ingnoring me, havent replied to my emails. I shall keep hounding them.

I just want to KNOW WHY HE isnt coming here!!

I really don't know why he isnt coming. PJ havent come in the past due to a lack of venue - thats not a problem this time. I think the $$$'s stack up, and cant for the life of me think what else it could be.

I just don't buy the money thing. If it is the reason then that makes me very very angry with him considering far less popular and successful musicians come down here to see us all the time. Good ol' Sufjan Stevens is coming next year. The New Pornographers just played here. Bonnie Bloody Tyler did too.

    CMON!

But I think the money stacks up. Two shows at the Civic would bring in $500K USD. Thats as much as Melbourne is bringing in. Tickets would sell out no problem. Transportation cant be an issue - fly LAX - Auck - Bris instead of LAX - Sydney - brisbane. He may even by flying via Auckland to get to Australia.

It has to be something else. Maybe Ed said he only wants to do X number of shows.

In 03 and 06 they had a reason - venue. This time, they dont seem to have one. Is it Ed? Is it the promoter?

to further add to the list of people who came to nz that would have cost a lot more than ed. broken social scene. there's like 342 of those guys. and they have been here a couple of times. and isn't ben harper like at least spiritually part kiwi? he could bring ben over with him if he really wanted to.

This all really just makes no sense whatsoever. NZ is a shitload closer to Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle etc than Perth is. Is it really so much to ask that he takes a 3 hour plane trip to see us before or after he goes to Aussie??

There MUST be a reason for it. And I need to know what it is! I wont be able to get over this until i find out why he's not coming here

Keep trying .. don't give up.

There is still time for some NZ dates to be slotted in.

The thing I dont understand is why their is flexibility on perth, but the 10C replied to both my emails within an hour and said 'not going to happen'.

Could it be as simple as Ed just wants to go surfing in Australia, play a few shows, and be done with it?
  • doomponydoompony Wellington, NZ Posts: 4,501
    possibly?

    probably.

I think there is this perception too that "oh well, the kiwis can just travel, it will be ok" - in Europe going from say Germany to France is no big deal, nor is inter-state travel in the US.

However its not that simple. Flights arent that cheap, and given the high Aussie dollar, accomodation wouldnt be either. As I said in another forum, with a 10 month old baby, plus a mortgage, and the likelihood of a career change next year, the trip isnt possible for me......
  • he could go surfing here too though!!

    i'm still not giving up

Chugg is going to get a lump of coal in his Xmas stocking this year me thinks from all the angry WAers. And rightly so. Gawd, at least we never had a carrot dangled over our heads. I hope Ed sees the damage and plays.

Anyway, I've been hitting next on the stereo... the pain was too raw to hear them... I was driving in to work this morning with a Xmas tree in the boot singing along to 'Last One Standing' by Neil Finn (genius) and then next thing I know I'm 3/4 of the way through howling along to 'Save You'.

So there you have it Eddie. I stll love ya. Even though I'm now officially a Sad Panda.
