Well I thought it was time someone started one of these ... and hopefully Eddie will read or hear about this.

Also I'm tired of reading posts all over the place from sad / angry / annnoyed New Zullanders. :)

If you want to make this petition work, you're going to need to create some noise....get some news stations or radios involved or something.

There's a reason why he didn't go to NZ when he is so close....maybe it's because he won't make any money out of it....I don't know....but you're going to need something major to make him change his mind....and a little online FB petition isn't going to do it....imo.

i very much doubt anything would change his mind.
  • well if we don't ask then it defintely won't happen will it?

The tour's only just been announced. There is plenty of time for NZ dates to be slotted in but you'll have to make an effort guys.

As fomer Kiwi Rachael Hunter used to say in the Pantene ads ..

"It won't happen overnight, but it will happen".

hey man, i signed the petition. i even emailed the ten club and offered to pay for his flight (heh.. they didn't respond.. funny that). but look at the tight little line he's playing. if he doesn't play perth, he won't play nz.
  • I'll do what I can, Its hard though because I have extremly dodgy internet connection at the moment, I'm lucky if I can get online at all.
Pearl Jam Pearl Jam Pearl Jam!

I'm looking to buy a single ticket to Ed's Sydney Opera House show, PM me if you've got a spare! I don't care where the seat is! :D

So you can pay for his flight to NZ from the States but you can't pay for your flight to Australia?

I can't believe you emailed 10c and said that!

Not from the States. I'd pay for his Cessna flight from Aussie.

But actually I wouldn't do that either, but ... eh. They won't even have read my soppy email.

    Killer thread!

Agree wholeheartedly, online petitions ain't gonna do it...

It mystifies me as to why he's not coming (try and make sense out of that sentence)

I just can't seem to figure it out...

I'm sure he could easily sell out a venue here like the civic

or is that just my biased thinking and maybe they don't think it would be financially viable?

i'm keen as to fight for the cause tho
  • doomponydoompony Wellington, NZ Posts: 4,501
it makes no sense. bands like camera obscura who are multiple people with far less popularity come to nz and play small venues... but they come back. wilco play here every five seconds. rufus wainwright played chch, welli and auckland..

why eddie? why? it can't be about the money

Maybe Ed had a falling out with The Finns?

I've noticed Liam isn't supporting this time around.

    Hmmm

maybe he heard the horrendous mess that is "barb"? oh wait, EJ is in that band too...
  • I know its probably not gonna work but I just like to start things like this so that I dont one day think "I should have at least tried"

Anyway Its fun for me to do!
    :D

And I'm still trying to figure out why he isnt coming here, it just seems weird as he's always going on about New Zealand it seems. If I could just get a reason as to why he isnt then I'll stop bugging Chugg and Ten Club

    Here is my 10C reply.......

    HI Scott,

We are very familiar with New Zealand and love it! However, the booking agent and promoter have not added any NZ dates to this tour. We are sorry, and hope there’s a chance you can make it out to one of the OZ shows.

    Cheers,
    10c

wow. that answered precisely nothing. they may as well have just said "cuz"

so essentially chugg couldn't be bothered?

we need fucking mystery girl to get him here. she always brings awesome acts to nz.

I sent an email to MG... I figure if he's down here, they could tag their own promotion on to the end and have it have nothing to do with Chugg... (like I know what Im talking about)

    Hi Mystery Girl

You have an amazing history of bringing amazing artists to NZ. Seriously, that list of past tours makes my eyes all misty with all it's awesomeness.

Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam announced his first solo tour outside of America this past Tuesday. The rumour was it would be an Aus/NZ tour. Unfortunately the reality is it's only an Australian tour, for a couple of weeks next March. The idea is he's going to Aussie to play theatre shows of his solo music (Into the Wild and new material, plus covers and Pearl Jam tunes I believe) and to spend time surfing in down time.

Anyway, the Kiwi fans who were built up to anticipate a couple of dates in NZ were gutted that the guy is coming all this way and NOT leaping the ditch. He's also left Perth off the list and the promoters (Chugg) have implied that if enough people sign a petition they're open to putting Perth on the tour. But not NZ!

The Ten Club (Pearl Jam's fanclub) have said that NZ has been missed out because the promoters chose to miss us out.

Is there anyway you can put your previously mentioned awesomeosity (It's a word!) to use and entice Mr Vedder over to NZ since Chugg continues to just not give a shit? Think about how beautiful a show could be at the Civic in Auckland... or the St James in Wellington.

If it's possible or a reasonably good idea to you then I BEG OF YOU. I, like so many kiwi fans, just can't afford to go to Australia to see concerts. And you do good work bringing otherwise completely inaccessible live acts to NZ.

    Thanks for reading

    Cheers
