One of the most fortunate things to ever happen to me was striking up a conversation with a stranger in a bookstore in Providence, RI back back in 2007. This man turned out to be Van's tour manager and after a nice long chat, he took my number and said "I'll see what I can do about the show tomorrow night." Got a call the next day to just show up at will call. I was handed an envelope and escorted to seats at the gorgeous Providence Performing Arts Center - 6th row, just left of dead center. An incredible night.
