    I think it's a "American soldiers die because God is punishing us for not killing gays" kindof thing.

    I'd join a group whose goal was to slash their tires every time they were to set out to a funeral. No matter what you think of soldiers and their participation in wars, you dont fucking crash a funeral to make a "point". Period.

    as funny as this is. thats not even the tip of the iceberg for the kharma these assholes deserve. how any asshole can do what they do and say its for the name of "God" is such a idiotic and irresponsible response for whatever they believe. free speech is one thing. but to desecrate someones memorial service is way out of fucking line

    i was doing some reading on these people a few months ago. it seems one of fred phelps' daughters is an attorney and they are using this platform so if anyone assaults them or infringes on their right to free speech they can sue for damages and that money can go towards funding their "church" and their travel to these funerals. they know where that magic line that you can't cross lies, and they go right up and toe that line every time. every court case has upheld their claim to free speech so far. these people are so warped that they think they are doing the right thing even though they have other motives, almost as if they are hoping for a violent reprisal against them so they can claim victimhood and sue for money. as sick as they are, i think it is better to point and laugh at them from afar, or better yet completely ignore them. they thrive on the publicity.

    I believe one of their web sites was something like Godhatesfags.com. Their bailiwick is close to how you described it....America puts up with homosexuals, thus the nation is being punished with soldiers' death...they want to anger those who lost loved ones to the point that they rise up in "righteous" anger and force our government to set up concentration camps for homosexuals.

    BTW, I loved how the local businessmen stood up and refused to sell them tires....in fact I applaud them.

    I live in Topeka (attending school) and I drive past Phelps Chartered sometimes. The whole family are scumsuckers. I daydream of Mythbusters explosions every time I drive past.

    Some of the Phelps lieutenants were out Sunday morning protesting a church with the sign "Your Preacher is Going to Hell" I politely drove past and gave them the one-finger salute :)
