They say smell is the first thing we remember
    And the last we forget
I have certainly had this, and no doubt so have you
    Walking down the street, inert
    A fresh blossom perfume, a woman, a man, a memory, a place
    Instant recall
    With hazy edges
    Mind reels
    Spinnning, spiralling
    Feelings
    Rise up as childhood
    Spinning, reeling in scent
A centre deep in the brain, opens up
warm fragrant centre where memories live
    But more than memories
    Place
    A person
    Me You Them Then

So be careful what you smell for
These fresh linen sheets that speak so crisply today,
    May just be tomorrow's undoing
    A scent, a pang, a wave,
almost too much to cope with
    Inhale and grip
    A solid piece of wood
Grip a solid piece of wood

    That's my advice

    sandalwood and amber
    the wood
    that solid wood
    scented with memories
    of earlier times
    deja vu
    a glitch in the matrix
    or past lifetimes
    can't be sure
    but there it is
    heady and alluring
    plain as day
    sandalwood and amber
    sweet and smoky
    floats in my memory
    grab onto
    that solid piece of wood
    and hold those
    memories
    some clear
some on the edge of reality
    hippie skirts and sandals
    opium dens and dreams
    sweet and warm
    others unknown
    but real and present
    hold them
    for your own
    for today
    they are what
    makes me
    feel alive
    peace,

The lady smells of sandalwood, amber
She drifts by, hardly notices me
    Her tears fall
    Down my own face
    She buried me
    She cried
    And then she walked away
    She left me nothing
    But her own memories

    rain falls on my heart
    rain falls on my soul
    but no one sees
    the rain that falls
    deep within my mind
    tears that fall for all
    things lost
    for people, dreams and desires
    that couldnt for whatever reason...
    ...remain
    hear my name
    take a good look
    this could be the day
    hold my hand
    lie beside me
    i just need to say

    what they see
    is the sheen
    the scarlet
    and black
    some call me
    beautiful
    but i wonder
    what solace lies
    within the
    black depths
    i walk beside
    there is no
    beauty in this
    world
    only pain
    and loss
    scarlet
    amber and sandalwood
    console me
    no more
    crimson is my soul
    heartbreak
    my only
    friend

somewhere there's a place inside me
    a place that I'm free
where footfalls echo around staircases in the night
a place in a citadel high up, detached from the town
the place my lovers gather beneath
amongst cherry blossom in the square
where we lived, where I live

    Black Tears

    Family in the vehicle,
    turns to tight to make.
    Small feet, white shoes laces,
    dangle in the night.
    Broken glass, paralyze,
    and it draws red blood.
    Moving stairs, take the fear,
next road, there is the light.
    People asking why,
    yet only to ignore.
The answer falls in black tears,
    as puddles form below.

    I have a story perhaps I've told,
though it does not matter much,
    no one listens long enough.

A story of love and friendship too,
    sometimes difficult but always true.

    His lifetime saved,
    our lifetime spent,
    two hearts we gladly gave.
I breathed his name between his song,
    often as we laid.

    My boy Jakey,
    Sir Laddykins,
    Jake-a-mon
    and Jake.

    An English Nobleman,
    the great storm predictor,
    a gentle cowardly beast.
    My Wolf style dog,
    in 55 shades of brown,
    forever mine to keep.

    The story goes,
    the story stays,
    a picture and a tear.
    And then the love
    is here with me
    forever long enough.
