Bonfire Night/Guy Fawkes Night is on the 5 November. In 1605 a group of Catholics tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the King (the Gunpowder Plot) but were caught, tortured and killed. Since then every year we all build bonfires and burn an effigy of the main culprit Guy Fawkes.
Some people have their own but there are usually also huge community bonfires with fireworks displays ... certain foods. Some have huge parades first of people carrying torches to light the fires which can be as big as a house.

Nope ... and the big displays are usually spread across the two weekends either side of the actual date so you don't get competing fireworks displays :P ... I'm actually going to one on 7 November.
