the shadow bird flew in close tonight
singing its song of gloom and doom
it reminded me of you
the sun hid behind the dark clouds today
questioning its own existence
reminding me of me

I placed bread crumbs on the porch
to lure the nasty bird closer
and silently, without much effort,…
broke its fucking neck
