I owe a small amount. It feels good to know that the gov't did not get a tax free loan from me last year.

Apparently in Canada if you are single, take public transportation and don't have kids you owe money. Go figure

If you put that money in a 401K or even a savings account instead of letting the government use it for free....you would have more than $2k.

I would rather pay them a small amount now than have them use my money all year.

Awesome....I'm in the same boat.....that is the goal of taxes...to break even or owe them a little. People who claim nothing and get these huge refunds are not very smart financially. Good job, and carry on!

    :D

I had a new client the other week who last year got a $3000 refund and accountant charged him $700. We did this years return where he got $2000 refund and charged him $340.

His response "I thought your fee's were a little high considering my accountant got me a bigger refund last year . I didnt even bother explaining why the refund was different this year (less PAYG, some CGT etc).....I politely said 'We dont render fees based on refunds. Find yourself a new accountant dipstick"
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
