Yup. Pretty much. I really don't think it would be so one-sided, but whatever.
Things will all be different next year when Youk's beard makes its triumphant return the lineup, pissing off all the Yankee fans. You can make the argument that he's one of the most important players to their team of anyone in baseball.
Okay, Im done digging myself into a bigger hole with you guys. You all hate me already for my strong Boston ties, I don't wanna keep adding fuel to the fire.
Back to the playoff discussion...how about that Carl Pavano, Cliffy? He's awesome isn't he? Why can't you guys get starting pitching like that?
Carl Pavano winning a playoff game at Yankee stadium is just about the worst thing I could ever imagine. Not
going to happen, can't happen.
Man o man that would be deathi post on the board of a band that doesn't exsist anymore .......i need my head examined.......0 -
I know I link to Deadspin quite a bit but here is another good piece from Alex Belth about his time working on the original Baseball by Ken Burns. It is great stuff. I am a bit biased though as I have been reading his Yankees blog for years now.

he is great. does college b ball too.....my only thing with him is whenever i hear his voice i have joe carter/mitch williams flash backs....
but cbs did baseball waaaaaay better than fox. i loved their intro music too.
good points. mcdonough and raftery are always solid as a team. mcdonough and speilman are my favorite college football team as well.
anything is better than the TBS broadcast
Not a fan of Olberman, but at least he knows what he's talking about. I do like listening to Costas talk about baseball though.0 -

I have such a love-hate thing with Costas. You know he is just a little smug prick, but he knows his shit and has solid views.0 -

I was thinking about this last night when they were showing some of the old highlights. costas has been around a longgg time. I'm really indifferent towards him...he's like a younger version of al michaels to me. These days if you don't despise an announcer/color guy I guess they're doing a good job. There are 3 times as many terrible broadcasters as good ones0 -

I'm a fan of Costas calling ball games - playoff games to be exact. Same with McDonough.
Why doesn't ESPN have the divisional series anyway? Or one of the prime time networks? How in the Hell does TBS have it? Of course it's money, but it's more of a rhetorical question. Would love to see this shit back on ABC or NBC.0 -

I'm a little perplexed. Why does this sound so exciting? I mean, I'll be excited, since the Phils would be in it, but why would a neutral observer consider Phils-Braves must-see TV?
Also, why would you hate the NL? Because everyone has to bat AND field? Because we have the Pirates?Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

I don't mind joe buck for baseball, but he annoys me for football. Met him at the Public House one night. His head is enormous (I mean in a physical sense). He was cool though. He was in town to do an eagles/giants playoff game. He was taking all kinds of pics with my wife and her friends.
Night 1 of this Burns documentary was better. Too red sox centric tonight. that 2004 team was full of dbags...pedro, schilling, millar, damon, ortiz, manny. god I hate the red sox. THe 9/11 stuff was cool, I wish they would have shown more of that. Shocked that they didn't even include the piazza HR. The Ichiro stuff was cool too, had no idea he was a natural RH hitter. What a beast.0 -

I think me and a buddy of mine are the only people on Earth that enjoy Buck for baseball. I get my balls busted for it all the time. I think the dude can be pretty funny sometimes. Definitely should stick to baseball, hate him for football.
Fixer, funny thing you mention seeing him at the Public House. Buddies of mine from my rugby team saw him there and asked him if he wanted to go in the alley way to smoke a bone. His response was something like, "there's nothing in the world that would interest me less." I find this funny.0 -
As far as the Part 2 of Ken Burnsathon, all I gotta say is....guys, I don't know if you know it, but.....Boston really really really REALLY likes the Red Sox.
What a waste of fucking 35 minutes.0
