Anyone else hear any similarity between Sleight of Hand and Rotten Apple (Alice In Chains, Jar of Flies)?

Not exactly the same, but just kind of the same feel. Anyone else? Or am I crazy?
Do you see the way that tree bends? Does it inspire?

I'll not lose my faith, it's an inside job today

St. Louis 5/4/10 Hope for many more!

Totally hear it...both are kinda hazy, kinda trippy...super-atmospheric. Yep. Good call.

I don't see much of a connection actually. Two very different songs, different tunings, structure/melody. Ok, I'm being a critcal ass-hat here. Sorry :lol:

This is what I was going for. Yes, they're totally different songs technically. Just a spur of the moment thing, heard it in my head.

  • Not at all, but they're probably two of my favorite songs by each respective band.

Love both songs...only similarity (term used loosely) I find is how the chorus "kicks in" for both of them. In other words, they both have the same feel in their progression from verse to chorus in that they each elevate from slow/calm to a more full/thick sound. Whether that makes sense or not, I have no idea, but each of them - at least to me! - builds up similarly and maintains a comparable tempo. My point is I don't think that the original idea here has anything to do with the sound/structure of the songs as much as it does their "feel", and that much I can see.
