Queens of the Stone Age "new" album?
Comments
-
Last month, Queens of the Stone Age reissued their landmark 2000 album Rated R and scored a Best New Reissue from us in the process. And later this year, the band will follow it up by reissuing their out-of-print 1998 self-titled debut, along with three extra tracks that were deleted from the original album. This is the album that Josh Homme and co. recorded soon after the breakup of their previous band, the legendary stoner-rock outfit Kyuss.
The QOTSA reissue arrives November 26, Black Friday, in a 180-gram double-gatefold colored vinyl edition with download. If you'd prefer the CD version by itself, that's coming December 7. QOTSA frontman Josh Homme is putting out the reissue on his own Rekords Rekords label, through a partnership with Mike Patton's Ipecac Recordings. Tracklist below.

this is true...disappointing for some
mainly for us freaks who scour the web in search of rare and unreleased shit
have tons of b-sides, live shows, Desert Sessions, etc.
if u can imagine..not all people have figured out how to use the web to their benefit
so for some it will feel like "new" stuff
and for others (like us) we can only hope its a better or cleaner version of what we already have...
what I usually do when I find b-sides and scrapped songs online, I'll just add them to the end of the album they were related to on my ipod...so i guess some of us are just spoiled 8-)
personally, im just glad this is happening b/c i feel the self titled needed the remaster more than Rated R
and having TCV around has posed questions as to the continuation of Queens...so its nice to know they arent ready to stop...ive only seen the Queens once live and Im hoping that it wasnt the only time I will ever see themMansfield, MA - Jul 02, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 03, 2003; Mansfield, MA - Jul 11, 2003; Boston, MA - Sep 29, 2004; Reading, PA - Oct 01, 2004; Hartford, CT - May 13, 2006; Boston, MA - May 24, 2006; Boston, MA - May 25, 2006; Hartford, CT - Jun 27, 2008; Mansfield, MA - Jun 28, 2008; Mansfield, MA - June 30, 2008; Hartford, CT - May 15, 2010; Boston, MA - May 17, 2010; [EV - Providence, RI - June 15, 2011; EV - Hartford, CT - June 18, 2011]; Worcester, MA - Oct. 15, 2013; Worcester, MA - Oct. 16, 2013; Hartford, CT - Oct. 25, 2013; Boston, MA - August 5, 2016; Boston, MA - August 7, 2016...0 -

JH seems to love being busy (probably why he and Dave Grohl get along so well), I can't see him ever stopping Queens. It's his own solo vehicle/outlet, and I love it. I love TCV too. I really would love to see them live. I've seen Queens several times, but seeing JH with Dave and JPJ on the same stage would make my head explode.Gimli 1993

The bonus tracks are amazing though. I play "Never Say Never" atleast five times a day. Born to Hula is also just incredible!
I love Era Vulgaris but it is their weakest album. I'd rank my favorite Queens albums as:
1.Self TItled
2. Rated R
3. Songs for the Dead/ Lullabies (Love them both the same!)

we're not alone...i just keep telling myself that
Back to Queens tho...personally...why dont they just merge the two bands (Queens & Vultures)? Vultures open for Queens 8-) Dave Grohl should just can Foo Fighters - IMO he's a better drummer than singer/guitar player - and be the permanent drummer for Queens...JPJ - shit, add him on there, trade him out whatever, its freakin JPJ!!! Songs for the Dead would be higher for me if there werent so many radio clips/weird lady talking btw. each song...I feel like im constantly skipping through that shit when i play it.

I love the Foo. If ever I'm in a bad mood, all I have to do is put on one of two bands, and I instantly feel better:
1) QOTSA
2) Foo
And to a lesser extent Wolfmother. PJ is my "deep" band. Except for Backspacer of course.

I love that about Songs for the Dead. It's a concept album which I think is cool. Just a fun joy ride through the desert!!
A merger between TCV and QOTSA would be great! Grohl is a great drummer but I like joey just as much. They are both beasts behind the kit! Maybe switch out Mikey Shoes for JPJ although I like Mikey Shoes too. I wish they would let him sing more of Nick's songs. He has a scream just like Nick2006: Albany

Tension Head is one of my favorites! That is one of the greatest/hardest sounding riffs.
Josh's guitar playing is just so awesome. I have a legit man crush on Homme  I love all the improve stuff he adds to songs during live shows. Over the Years and Through the Woods is a great example of that. One of the best Live albums and DVD's I've seen  The extended version of No One Knows gives me body chills.
p.s. All this QOTSA love makes me happy. I never see any talk of these guys around here.
p.p.s. I am also at work and wasting time on this forum. Gotta love it!

I've got the 1st album on red vinyl off ebay a few years ago although I'm sure it is a bootleg but it sounds pretty good, a remastered reissue of this would be nice, R rated hasn't so far had the vinyl treatment on it's deluxe version although I do have a pressing already of it I would like Self Titled, R Rated & Songs on 180 gram audiophile please.
Josh did mention a new TCV album before the end of the year well at least recording one so that must have been shelved unless it will just appear Jack White style, a new material from Eagles would be nice aswell. A news Queens album is always welcome although I thought TCV, Lullables, Heart On were all better than Era Vulgaris in my view, isn't their new Dessert Sessions due as well, a boxset was promised and a best of sometime ago?0 -

Easy solution to getting rid of the intros if you have itunes...
right click on the song
select 'get info'
click the options tab
look down and you can write in when you want the song to start and end
you can be super precise and add a decimal point after the seconds column and select the tenths, hundredths, etc of when you want the song to start
I did that to songs for the deaf a while ago and the album is a beast and flows better, imo.
They are criminally underrated and are one of the best rock bands out there.
By they way, they are the TIGHTEST live band I've ever seen. No fuck ups or bum notes. This performance always blows me away...
