Toronto 06 Klausen Poster - some questions about mine

Hey everyone!

I went to the May 10th, 2006 Toronto show but wasn't able to grab a poster - so a friend bought it for me for my birthday and had it shipped to me.

Here are my questions (pics follow):

Is it a genuine poster (from what you can see)? More importantly, is that a real Klausen signature? Why is it numbered? (Like, were numbered ones released for a special occasion or something?)

And this may sound stupid, but for anyone who has this poster, Is it normal that the white paint isn't perfectly white but greyish? It seems like the white paint shows some of the black through. Just wondering if it happened with age or whether they came like that.

Also, any framing suggestions? :)

I wanna frame it, but was wondering all that stuff before I go through with it. Thanks for your time guys!

Dude that's the real deal, plus is signed and numbered by brad out of 100... You should be eternally grateful to your friend!

  • The only tip I know to pass along for sure, is that if you want the poster to retain it's value, make CERTAIN it is NOT drymounted by the framer. When I buy a poster for myself I have no intention of ever selling it, but I like to know that I could I guess. Drymounting can improve it's look for display since it removes wrinkles and such, but crushes it's value. Hope that helps a little, wish I knew more about the process. All of my posters are sitting in tubes for a day when I can afford it.

Richie: But you didn't have a drug problem then.
Eli: Yeah, but it still would've meant a lot to me.

  • Aw thanks guys!!! That makes me feel awesome! I was so paranoid, haha.

Longtime - thank you for the tip :). I will definitely make sure it is not drymounted. And this one sat in a tube for a couple years too, so I feel your pain!

Frank - Ohh, I really like it with the black mat. I was thinking of doing a white mat, but it would probably be too harsh on the eye considering the poster... so yeah, super cool. Thanks for the inspiration!

Any other input (especially on why it's signed and framing suggestions)??

    Why is signed?
Because is an edition sold by the artist, the poster it self doesn't have anything in particular (at least this one doesn't) except the signature, but because the artist signs a limited amount of them is more sought after.

Yep, makes sense, but what I meant more (although I didn't make it clear) was how did people get ahold of signed ones? Were signed ones sold at the show, or were they released some other way? I'm curious as to the history of the poster.
  • Signed ones are sold on his site, I assume most artists are the same way. And they can sell out before you can enter your credit card info sometimes. Its a cool thing to have 8-)

Aww thanks for the info! You guys have made me so much more excited that the poster will be hanging on my wall soon - I appreciate all the help and input :). (And feel free to post more pics of framed ones too!)

All of the above are correct. This is one of the few that I have been able to keep for myself; I was even able to part with my Duesseldorf!

After seeing the difference that the SLC white vs black made I would bet this one would scream if it had been printed on white instead.

Thanks for the confirmation on the info :). What do you mean about the SLC? Did they print it on both colours of paper? Explain! :P
