i've heard crown on the ground and tell em. crazy stuff.
  • This is definitely becoming my summer album. Can't wait to see them at Pitchfork Fest. They have a very interesting mash-up of sounds going on, catchy as hell, definitely veers pretty far into pop. Not something I would normally get into, but it's been irresistible.

This and the new album by Tame Impala are my two albums of the summer so far!
I’ve seen Pearl Jam 25 times, Eddie Vedder 9 times, and Brad once.
  • I know they obviously intended for it to sound that way, but I swear that "Crown on the Ground" would be 100 times better if they remixed it. I want a song to sound so good it makes me want to blow the speakers, not to sound like it already happened at minimal volume

But overall it is a fun little album!

Just discovered them and liking them so far! Unique sound, definitely memorable. Digging the song 'Tell 'Em' off of Treats.

  • When I first saw a couple of people on Facebook 'like' Sleigh Bells, I thought they were referring to the Xmas tree farm outside of Portland, OR. Cool! I had no idea people even knew about that place.

Then I figured out it was a band.

ok i just bought this album a few weeks ago after hearing a few songs. Really digging it. Love Tell 'em (fav song), Riot Rhythm, & Straight A's.

Only thing I don't like about the album it's just over half an hour long.

Read they were coming to philly in a few weeks w/ LCD Soundsystem. Might have to check that out.

Finally caught them tonight. Show was suppose to be sold out, but a few hours before i checked the website and there was a ticket available. Missed the first act, second band was My Dream? Didn't really care for them. CSS came up next. First few songs they played i wasn't feeling them, but by the time they ended they had a new fan. Sleigh Bells up next and rocked, ears still ringing a little. I think they played their whole album, which wouldn;t be hard to do since it's only 30 minutes. Nothing new though.

it's out and it's pretty good. I thought I would be disappointed with it, but it's a nice follow up to "Treats". Not as good as Treats, but good nonetheless. I only listened to it once, no tracks really stuck out but then again I was at work when i listened to it. Will have to listen to it again to see which tracks i liked and whatnot.

interesting you bring this up. what is this technique? i know exactly what you are referring to and i hate it too. the last kanye west album had a lot of songs that were recorded this way as well. i wonder if these songs only sound right on state-of-the-art stereo equipment? it's weird though. i just don't understand why anyone would want their album to sound like that. it's like you said, it sounds like the speakers are blown when the music is turned down.

as for sleigh bells...tried and didn't really get it. really noisy stuff.
  • My critique from the first album was that it sounded so disjointed. The majority of the songs sounded like they were just trying out some riffs and beats for 30 seconds, then they would move onto to the next beat. When they were able to put together a focused song, it was great.

Its even worse on their new album. I played this in my car and couldnt even get past the 2nd song. The album sounds like complete shit in my car.

I think they have good songs, but would sound better with a live rythym section

I agree. I saw their album release show last week in LA and it's definitely time for a live rhythm section. The show was good but the rhythm track dominated the mix at times.
