seconded... of the same caliber as DMB... having them at all associated with PJ is insulting and im surprised how many OAR fans are on this board to be honest... no offense to anyone personally :)

You buy a hat like that I bet you get a free bowl of soup... oh but it looks good on you though.

I think it's called Bushwood. Now that Dangerfield is gone I heard it's a nice place.

    Edit: Beat to it, damn.

My frat was fairly weird and not what you would consider a typical chapter, so this kind of thing thoroughly confuses me. Any help?

I feel your pain with the people on this board that don't like fraternities. I truly disliked the "frats" at my school. Then Half way through freshman year I realized that the friends I met in college, played music with, went to concerts with... were Tekes.

People always see the bad side of being greek bc of what happens in the news. They never realize that all fraternities are different. My house was very diverse. We had people from different back grounds, ethnicities, countries, sexual orientations. It was truly a great time in my life and I have A great group of friends that I will have for a long time to come. I also know that being in the organization I was able to help many people, both in the fraternity and through philanthropies for charity.

  • i go to the university of illinois... largest greek system nationally... i think i know what im saying when i say frats fuckin suck... and the ones that dont suck quite frankly dont get any pussy, parties, or recognition as a legit frat... and the ones that do suck listen to OAR, DMB, rap music, and then some 80's bands just cause nostalgia is sooo in right now

i should probably add im not taking a shot at everyone assiociated with frats... i know a lot of "bros" that are cool outside the context of their frat... i just dont care for the system or when they roam in packs :D

I went to ISU. Are we all from Central Illinois in this Post? I will say that Unofficial was a lot of fun.

thank you. and to add to this, its not just that they listen to these two bands in particular its that most of them worship them. they also parade them around as if they are the best bands ever and proof of their music individuality (way to go out on a limb). all of the reasons and excuses made to like this band have been fairly shallow. "that song crazy game of poker reminds me of this one time me and my buddies played this crazy game of poker (or a time at party or bar)". others have said they may not be talented but theyre just a fun band to play at a party or whatever. i dont just hate frat boys, i know alot of guys in fraternities who are fine. its just that this music proliferates in them because its fun and stupid but they explain it as them being the best band ever because their jam band status and unique musicianship. they suck, i'd rather listen to hanson, at least that would be original.

cool cool! yah its a good time!

DAMMIT... just before this post i had a whole 2 paragraph rant about shitting "jam bands" (OAR, DMB... as well as more accepted ones like umphreys, moe, yonder, string cheese, etc) and how there hasnt been a legit band deserving of the title "jam band" since phish... i wont repeat everything i said but it was pretty eloquent and mentioned some good 60s and 70s jams... and totally put to bed the whole idea of OAR being any good... damn porch always having technical difficulty and freezing just when i write my best shit :D

basically i dont care what anyone listens to as long as they dont try to justify its merit to me with bullshit reasons
