Board is kind of slow these days, so I hope no one will mind my sharing this.

My son has only been playing guitar for a year and a half. He is a huge PJ fan and has taught himself almost everything in their catalog.

Please be nice with any comments -- remember he is only 13 years old!

This sounds great! He's way better than I was at that age. I remember it taking me 3 months to learn how to play Nirvana's "About A Girl" and that's only 3 chords! Learning to play music is the greatest thing you can do for yourself! Tell him to keep up the good work, if he's this good now, he's gonna be phenomenal in just a few years time, and the chicks will totally dig it too! Rock On! ...Sweet guitar too!

    Thanks for the encouraging words.

I have absolutely zero musical ability, so it's pretty cool to be able to see your kids be able to do something that you couldn't do in a million years!

Awesome stuff, congrats! I've been playing for 6 or so months, I am no good, not sure I ever will be. This is one song I desperately want to be able to play.

I'll be honest with you. When I read the OP where it said "please be kind...only 13" I thought Id see a kid give it a shot, but not quite have it.

That was fantastic! It looked (sounded) like he may have been nervous at the start, but as the song progressed so did he. Very good, keep up the good work.

Well done, he's really good and I'm not usually a fan of covers. Keep it up and yes, it's true, chicks will totally dig the guitar and singing!
  • This was awesome!!!
  • for a 13 years kid he did an amazing job  . It's not easy to play and sing together. Not only he did it very well but he did it in front of a crowd and in a church  .
He deserved a lot of respect for all of that.

Tell him to keep focused and in a few years he should be awesome.

You should be a proud and happy father. I'm sure tears were not far away too in a moment like this ;)

awesome job.. what I like the most I think is that he kept his nerves under control. That was the hardest part for me at his age playing in front of people. Keep at it David!!
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?
