thats probably the worst example of a band ripping another band off. those two songs are VAGUELY similar at best.

Bottom line: all bands copy/share influences from others, whether its accidental or on purpose.

    AC/DC - Stormy May Day
Led Zeppelin- In My Time of Dying

Not strictly a rip-off, but the similarities are undeniable.

(Also, isn't any AC/DC songs basically a rip-off of the previous AC/DC song? j/k, I love me some DC!)

I cannot give any credit to a list that includes the offspring ripping off the Beatles. The whole album Americana rips off other songs, uses the same music but different lyrics....all with permission....that was the point/theme/idea behind the whole damn cd....

Bullshit? Even though both, Robert Plant and all of Pearl Jam, have acknowledged the simularities?

I thought the article was fairly neutral towards the subject.

A rip off is a rip off, whether it's positive or negative is based on your own connotations.

It should be number one, although it really is more like sodomizing the song than ripping it off.

Actually, I'd say the verses are pretty similar in terms of guitar melody, and some of the vocal melodies, but the choruses are pretty different from each other, and obviously the instrumentation is different. And hey, if Plant and Mike have even acknowledged it, and Plant is cool with it, I don't see the problem. It's still a great fuckin' song, which I dig more than Going to California.
    Thanks EPOTTSIII!

    MUSE-Uprising
    Battles-Atlas

The beat is almost identical, and I love Muse.

And for the record Given to Fly sounds NOTHING like Going to California. PJ and Zeppelin are my two favorite bands and both are great songs, but personally GTF is the better song.

Ya i mean.... They aren't identical... But you cant totally tell that the structures of each songs share a similar tone; with the intro, and the build up, and even the melody of the vocals in the chorus.

I've always liked this one... Coldplay ripping off Joel Satriani

I've always thought the guitar riff in 'Go' sounds just like the chorus of this song:

I love how Led Zeppelin is mentioned in the top ten song rip offs as the ripees as opposed to the rippers. Was expecting it to be the other way around
