Will they play before or after Elton John?
Elton John has seniority as far as year making music... but, Pearl Jam's Anniversary date is that weekend.
So, having Pearl Jam bat ahead of Elton John would work out for those that have Sunday Evening travels plans.
I guess Ol' Neil will decide.

The schedule is never announced. Not even at the show itself. Crew of course knows the order, which they are given day of show. That info generally makes it's way through the crowd from those in the know. But as a rule, there is no "announcement" of the running order of the acts, and those in the know don't get the info until day of show. Neil almost always plays the final set on Sunday, so even if PJ was before Neil, their set would probably be over by 8:15 or so. SFO is about a 30 or 40 min drive from Shoreline. That is a likely scenario, but it would suck to book a flight and then miss the PJ set.... good luck!

The flight I want to be on is at 11:20, so that sounds completely doable! Thanks! I'm hoping PJ will headline on Saturday for their anniversary, then play early on Sunday.

So if you don't have any inside info, do bands just randomly take the stage? How long are the PJ sets typically? I'm debating if it is worth it. But if they play something rare and I don't go, I will really be kicking myself. I checked the 2001 setlists when they played last soldier. Hearing that song twice would have been unbelievable, but the rest of the 10/11 songs they played were fairly forgettable.

I apologize if this was already touched on but I'm too lazy to go through the 15 pages of this post to verify.

Anyway, I have some questions for the past Bridge School Benefit attendies.

How much have tickets gone for in the past?

When do they go on sale? (I guess that's a stupid question as the Ten Club has yet to release the offical word).

Thanks to whom ever responds. 8-)

  • I think lawn is the way to go. In 2006 we spent one night on the lawn and one night with pretty good reserved seats. Both were amazing, but the lawn I thought was just as good so I couldn't really justify the large price difference and do that again. Plus there's something about sitting on the lawn with a pretty constant supply of drunkards trying to make their way in and out of the maze of blankets before that last beer they chugged makes its way out of their bladder that adds to the experience.

Bands don't just randomly take the stage. In fact the order is somewhat predictable. The announced lineup usually lists the bands in order of their level of success and/or longevity. Generally speaking, they perform in reverse order of their place on the bill. The relatively new/unknown artists will almost always be among the first performers, and your heavy hitters almost always last. Sometimes the bands play in the same order both times, sometimes they don't. Sometimes a heavy hitter will perform earlier in the day because of travel requirements, etc. Neil usually plays last, but not always. Pearl Jam has typically played towards the end of the shows. The bigger acts get longer sets. The first few acts play 25-30 min sets. The "headliners" play 40-50 min sets. Mike played electric guitar one year, one of a very few exceptions to the acoustic rule.

This is going to be a great time. You should go if you can. End of story.

Shoreline is a pretty nice venue too. :)

This is all correct. I would just add that you can be pretty certain Pearl Jam will not play last. Neil will go later and if, as rumored, Elton John is there he will too. It's a shame to miss any of the show but if you just care about PJ the 11:20 flight is doable.

I would not expect more than 45-50 min sets. At least 1 year they did under 40 mins each day (both sets fit on an 80 min CD). Go in with proper expectations and you will likely be satisfied.
  • As someone once said:

"You see things at Bridge you don't see anywhere else. I never leave here feeling bad."

So even if it's the typical 35 minute set, it will still be good.

On another note, Neil has lost 2 big guys in his circle this year (L.A. Johnson and Ben Keith) so this year's Bridge is likely to be extremely emotional. (If you care about that kind of stuff like I do..)

    Following week spent in LA/SD

    La to NYC

    Lifes good :)
  • Just bumping because the lineup is allegedly going to be announced today. If so, tickets will likely go on sale this Sunday or next.

Last year's show didn't sell out, I guess due to the limp lineup and the economy, so I expect Neil to add a couple of fairly big names in addition to PJ. The School depends on this revenue. Elton John would help, if those rumors are true.
