Pearl Jam mentioned in a book for class

For an honors seminar course i'm taking called "Music and Human Rights" the first book for class is titled "Shoot the Singer: Music Censorship Today" and it talks about how music is censored and has been censored throughout the world and so forth. In the United States section there's a chapter dedicated to music censorship after 9/11 and how anybody who seemed anti-war was labeled as "unpatriotic."

Here's the PJ paragraph:

"During a 1 April concert by the rock group Pearl Jam, singer Eddie Vedder placed a mask of George W. Bush on a microphone stand, then knocked it to the ground and repeatedly jumped on it. While some fans did cheer the actions, others booed and left the concert, demanding their money back. The incident was a discussion point in the American media for several days following the concert."

Was anybody at this concert?? I put this up for discussion so, discuss :)

    That was Denver 03 I think... I wasn't there... but it didn't bother the real fans. :)

    ...but we all know that between Sept. '01-'03, we couldn't question and make disparaging stands against our President and the government. Otherwise we'd be considered traitors.

    I wasn't too cool on it. But hey it's rock and roll, its not like this country lets media conglomerates censors webcasts and broadcasts.......Oh wait.

    You don't have to agree with Pearl Jam on everything, you just have to like their music(I officially copywrite this slogan)

    Watching all of this unfold from Canada during that time was so bizzare.Not just what happened to Pearl Jam and the Dixie Chicks, i mean the whole scene was retarted. It was like well the rest of the world knew that this war was a really bad idea but why can't these idiots figure it out.

    uniondale some people just booed. i was there for that, my very first show :D, and i cheered. i loved that they had the cajones to play that on long island.



    anyhooo...kinda cool, and a wee bit scary - as in making me feel old :p - that pearl jam are mentioned in a text for school!
