Always been against awards since Ed's MTV awards speech... Wonder what he would think about this?

I have looked for this on here already..... sorry if this is a duplicate.

  • I think it's great they have been recognised for a great album, but don't think it matters who wins.

"AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine, Kiss and Slash will battle it out for band of the year at the Classic Rock Roll of Honour 2010.

They all have two nominations at this year's awards - and are up against Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Jeff Beck in the best band category"

    What year exactly?...This year?... :wtf:
The show sounds cooler the more you read...Cheap Trick are performing.

I voted for Black Gives Way to Blue by AiC. Love PJ but in all honesty Backspacer was a disappointment. Luckily 1 week later AiC cheered me up with a fantastic and stunning album.

If my opinion on this issue had an evil twin.....it would be this. Exact opposite of how I feel. I really don't have the urge to ever listen to Black Gives Way to Blue again.

Same. I thought the AIC album was a big dissapointment. I was hoping for actual LEAD vocals from william. Instead it was all mainly from Jerry. The entire album except A Looking in View and Your Decision sounded like a Jerry solo record.

  • I think that Black Gives Way To Blue is an ok album, but isn't a patch on any of the old albums and has to go down as a disappointment to me. There just isn't any stand out tracks on it apart from Check My Brain (and I love AIC), but Backspacer has (for me) 4 or 5 great tracks.

I never thought about it till now, I haven't listened to it since it came out. I saw them in London and it was totally awesome but the album hasn't stayed with me at all. A shame really, one of my all time favourite bands.....

That's it exactly! I still give Dirt a spin at least a couple of times a week and Jar of Flies but Black Gives Way To Blue I keep forgetting about it, it just hasn't clicked for me. Shame really, they were so good.

I guess different horses for different courses. Yeah I prefer Dirt and Jar of Flies but that doesn't take from Black Gives Way to Blue. There are loads of songs on that record I really dig Check my Brain, Your Decision, Lesson Learned, When the Sun Rose Again, actually almost the entire record. I can give it a top to bottom any time and enjoy where as I admit I never feel like putting on Backspacer.

Yeah, I was surprised with the fact that Jerry sang lead, but I guess that was meant to make it more acceptable to fans in that they weren't replacing Layne with a new total front man. I dunno. Jerry's got a good voice anyway.

Very true about horses for courses, that's what life is about.

I'd like to know where Them Crooked Vultures S/T is in this category. Easily the best rock album to come out in recent years.

this reminds me of an audio recording that sirius xm channel "lithium" plays in between songs:

"now that it's been two decades since grunge...does that make it classic rock?"
Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
    Butthead: Huh huh.

Black Gives Way To Blue is 10x better than their self-titled album. I only like about 3 or 4 songs off that record where as I can listen to BGWTB all the way through.
