I loved it when it came out, but after getting all my boots and absolutely loving the faster versions....I find it hard to sit through the cd version...anyone have a preference or maybe find themselves not listening to a studio version of a certain song because the live version blows it away?

I definitely prefer the faster live versions.
Zagreb '06 = best version ever."This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."0 -
I disagree - I think it's too fast live. Same with WWS. Life Wasted is better live, IMO.0

Torino '06 replaced the Pearl Jam studio album for me. It's way better sped up.“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule that I know of, babies — ‘God damn it, you’ve got to be kind.’” - Kurt Vonnegut0

that's happened with many of the studio songs for me, but then you begin to appreciate the subtilties of their studio work. it's win / winLook Alive,

Most of Avocado is like that for me. Something about the recording made a lot of great songs, fairly lifeless.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I'm with you on that.....
After a year and a half I still cant put my finger on why that album no longer excites me :('The more I studied religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself.' - Sir Richard Francis Burton0 -

I find the songs great, so I listen to it. But the production is pretty conservative.
I think production-wise it should sound like Vitalogy.'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

I'm with you on that one. I remember listening to the studio version of it last month and I was like...wow, live is SO much better.
And I loved the studio track!0 -
I'm sorry guys but the BEST version of Severed Hand is the Reading Festival 2006 gig. Come on - the best vibe, amazing quality boot. "You'll see dragons after 3 or 4, i said FUCK YEAAAAHHHHHHHH"

it's so true, especially the drums/hi-hat sound
kind of reminds me of the difference between that old iron maiden stuff & the 'live after death' album"ah fuck it get in trouble"

Agreed, the studio version is ruined for me after the '06 tour. *sigh*jonbond1779 wrote:"You'll see dragons after 3 or 4, i said FUCK YEAAAAHHHHHHHH"
That's one of the reasons LAII'06 is my favorite version.0 -
About the only thing I like better on the studio version is that dive bomb sound at the solo that they can't replicate live.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

i agree that live it's way better.it's that moment right before the solo at the end hits and everyone just nails it and you realize how tight they are.pretty awesome.my best version would go to newcastle.love the ed intro instead of the pre-taped part from the cd.jeter drinks wine coolers0
