    I'm not sure. Maybe a misunderstanding between two people is my best guess. I'm hoping to hear it at the next Hartford show. And that version has to posted. You should've posted the pic also from that performance.

    has anybody the whole tv rock am ring performance on vhs or dvd?? i need to see the whole show. i was there in 2000. or does anybody know where i can get it??

    one of my favorite songs...and i know they never tell us what "MOST OF" the songs were really about when they wrote them, because we imagine our own meaning behind them, making them individual and meaningful to each of us...and according to eddie, that's how it should be :)

    I've always thought it was a song about feeling like nothing is right, you don't fit in, you don't feel like you should fit in, but you don't know how or where to fit in. I don't think the song is about one specific thing but this is my take on the song, apologies if people think I am way off!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol:

    Starting with not feeling like home, he's a little out etc, all feelings of not being comfortable.

    The line "Putting in,.. inputting in,.. don't feel like methadone..." leans towards drug addiction recovery, the chorus of:

    It's nothing as it seems,.. the little that he needs,. it's home
    The little that he sees,.. is nothing. He concedes,.. it's home

    seems to suggest that the character is settling for what they have rather than being happy with it.

    The next section of:

    One uninvited chromosome,.. a blanket like the ozone.
    It's nothing as it seems, all that he needs,. it's home...
    The little that he frees,.. is nothing, he believes...

    Maybe the first line is a reference to gender issues, a man has the extra chromosome and the ozone is a protective layer - does this suggest the character is suppressing their sexuality to appear "normal" as a protection?

    The next section seems to show the character giving up a little:

    Saving up a sunny day,.. something maybe two tone...
    Anything to call his own,.. a chip off the cornerstone...
    Who's kidding, rainy day,...one way ticket headstone...
    Occupations overthrown,.. a whisper thru a megaphone...

    Sunny day to rainy day, slight hope (something maybe, anything to call his own) to one way ticket headstone (death)

    Whispering through a megaphone to me is the futility of not having your voice heard.


    Whatever the meaning of this song it is one of the very best songs in the PJ armory in my opinion and one I hope for every live show!!!!!!!!!!!

    ok , heres my take. nonspecific to "character" . I think as humans we tend to read the surface of things and not recognize that something deeper may be at work. lurking just below the surface of what we see , feel, hear, and experience is a whole other world of reality. Like a 4th dimension of what actually is real.

    I think the song is about trying to escape one self. Living a lie and alone but nobody understands.

    thought it was representative of Jeff's childhood, growing up in northern Montana. The song is rather bleak and dismal sounding, as I would imagine that area of the country could be. Love listening to it here when it rains and winter, along with most of Binaural! Love the song and album.
    Do you see the way that tree bends? Does it inspire?
