In Fargo, '03, he was drinking Coppola Blue Diamond Merlot. I know this because I have a picture of me drinking out of the bottle.
I've got that at home right now, good stuff.

From "The Ongoing History of New Music":

"Maybe it is the wine. One of the perks of being a rock star is that you get to do and have things that regular people don’t - like wine.
These days, before Pearl Jam goes on tour, Eddie has someone pack him up some cases of some custom-bottled vino from the “Flowers” vineyard and winery in California’s Sonoma Valley. He is apparently partial to their Van der Kamp Pinot Noir with its fruity aroma and a finish that reminds one of cloves.
The bottles have no label. They are simply inscribed in bold with the name of the wine, the bottle number and the words “Eddie with Aloha”. Like I said, it is good to be a rock star."

    Aloha

So, how much do you think a bottle of this stuff sets the "average" (ie: not Eddie) consumer back? Heh..

Siduri is an extremely well respected producer of wines especially their Pinots. They do buy grapes, but only from some of the most well known and respected vineyards in California and Oregon. Any of their Pinots from the Russian River Valley or from the Santa Lucia Highlands are spectacular. I have not had the Van der Kamp Ranch Vineyard but I'm sure it is amazing. Eddie would not drink shitty wine! Retail would be anywhere from $40 to $60 a bottle.

I think this name has less to do with PJ, and more to do with magicians and the original term "sleight of hand", which is a using your hands to conceal something, make it dissappear, etc. in a magic trick.

I wonder if Ed will have some Bonnaroo wine Saturday night? It's made by Beans Creek Winery which has a store right by the exit 111 entrance to Bonnaroo.

What's really quite hilarious, and not talked about often, or at all, is that there are times when Ed's bottle is actually filled with water! There has been such a big deal made about him drinking wine and being 'drunk' that sometimes he will have it filled wth water. little known fact for you :)

No wine person would drink the same wine over and over every night. It's not like having a brand of cigarettes. I believe Ed likes this Siduri, but I can't believe that's what he drinks all the time.

since ed can afford pretty much any wine he wants, i agree. typical, that my 100th post would be about booze.

This is from the NYC Letterman show a few years back. One is of me drinking the remains of the bottle. The second is the set list and bottle.

haha, it does sound like "insider" info, doesn't it?
i've been in my mind, it's such a fine line...

    Oh really?

.....he named his winery in honor of his favorite band, Pearl Jam. ("Sleight of Hand," for those less familiar with the band, is a song about a dreamer who feels a compulsion to break free from the norm - almost as if by a magical force - on Pearl Jam's Binaural album [2000 vintage].).......

I know about the water in the wine bottle because I have worked with and for the band on a few shows in the past :). This is the same reason why I suggest that anyone in the west palm beach area should wander down to the amphitheatre today becaus i guarantee you that they will be doing an extended sound check.
