Any music on headphones sounds better but there really is a new dimension to Binaural. Add pot, lights off, lava lamp and full volume through decent headphones and you'll hardly recognize it as the same album. I listen to it now more than ever and by the way for those who still slate Riot Act you should try it with headphones too because it has quite a lot of hidden sounds and it really deserves full attention to be properly appreciated.

where to start??only with headphones you get how brilliant are the drums in God's dice,in Thin Air is like you are in the beach..in Off the Girl sounds coming from everywhere like its a 3D sound....
and dont talk about Nothing as it seems..this song is a miracle..only God can do those..

I've approached this topic before regarding illicit substances but sometimes I really envy those who can experience PJ while high. I can only drink and that experience can sometimes be amazing but I can only imagine other things.
why can't you experience PJ while high?
I'm subject to the FAA's drug test program. Three random drug tests in the last three years.
there's been a few threads about this top over the last few years which makes me think i should go buy headphones so i can see what everyone is talking about. question though... would i need to listen to it on vinyl to get the full experience, or would listening it through my ipod be good enough?

Guys, I think you don't even need to take anything to get freaked with the barking and the typewriting... I once felt asleep listening to it, to wake up later VERY scared when the typewriter came. Not a great experience...
As for the incredible listening experience with the record, I suggest you all borrow a Bose headphone (not the in-ears, take the larger ones!) sometime to do it... It is even crazier with a superb quality equipment!

For its sixth album, Pearl Jam brought in producer Tchad Blake, known for his use of binaural recording. Binaural recording techniques were utilized on several tracks, such as the acoustic "Of the Girl." The songs are also identified with an asterisk next to the song names in the lyric book. Unable to write more lyrics, Vedder said he saw a ukulele and thought "that's not a guitar," and wrote the song "Soon Forget" using the ukulele.[11] Guitarist Mike McCready went into rehabilitation to receive treatment for an addiction to prescription drugs.[6][9] Gossard said that "because Mike wasn't all there, and there was a 'get-to-know-you' thing with Matt, everyone wasn't on the same page."[4]

Just the other day was the first time I planted myself on the couch and did nothing but listen to an album-Binaural.
I'm used to listening to mostly all live PJ in the car. I was completely blown away by, yeah, all those sounds. HF.
I kept unintentionally falling off the couch. It was hard to keep a straight face with all that going on.
PJ has ruined alot of other music that I used to like, because now it sounds as if theres not much there--like drums that do nothing but keep a beat--what a waste of an instrument!
