Perhaps he needs to take an extra breath because his lung capacity isn't what it used to be. I don't think it's age, it's the smoking. Several singers continue to sound fantastic up to older ages (they probably don't smoke), so I disagree that age is a factor, at all.
Damn, I see exactly what you're talking about. Just listening to elderly woman from Venice ('10) on PJ radio and noticed it as I was simultaneously reading your post. "He-ah-arts and thoughts they fade..."
I just noticed he's getting better each time I hear or see him. The man he has grown into is amazing. His presence on and off the stage. The angst of earlier years seems to be replaced now with emotion, almost like acting a song. This plays on his audience to arouse all kinds of feelings. I think he is comfortable with who he is and where he is in life which can be said for many of us as we age. All the guys seem happy, this is very good, makes for great music, great times and happy fans.
