    video evidence didn't support his claims of taser confusion. Mehserle had held his weapon with both hands when he was trained to use just his left if he was firing a taser.

    the judge that ordered Mehserle to stand trial for murder, said that after viewing all the evidence, there was no doubt in his mind that Mehserle intended to shoot Oscar Grant, (who was unarmed), with a gun and not a taser.

    unluckily for Mehserle, there were lots of witnesses and video footage of the inicident caputured on cell phones etc.

    Does anybody really think this cop shot this guy on purpose ? Why would someone risk throwing their entire life away. Loosing their carrer, his family and going to prison. Did it ever occur to anyone that sometimes people make mistakes ? Even trained professionals ?
    With that being said. I don't know if the jury got it right or not, but maybe they did. I wasn't in the court room. All Im saying is It's hard for me to accept that he shot the guy on purpose and that he would think that he could somehow get away with it.

    Unless he wasn't aware of the presense of a camera, capturing the scene. People act completely different when a camera comes into play.

    Also... not knowing where the GUN is on your belt... that's a BIG fucking mistake.

    As far as the camera goes,you would think he would be well aware of cameras.After all wasn't he a transit cop ? and didn't the shooting take place in the subway station ? You are right though about cameras and people acting differently. So if he did do it on purpose you would think he would of thought that it might not be a good idea to shoot this kid considering that their are cameras everywhere. :think:

    Who knows? Other than himself and the kid. Unfortunately, only one gets to tell his side.
    Maybe the kid said something that made him blow a fuse... who knows?
    If anything... he should get minimum of 4 to 6 for being an idiot cop that cannot keep a proper inventory of the weapons on his belt.

    That's what gets me... cops I know can tell when they pick up there service weapon if it's loaded or unloaded just by the weight and balance of it... You telling me a cop mistakenly thought his gun was a taser? bullshit...

    Yeah... all in all i'ts a sad story and lots of lives have been affected by this tragic event. Hopefully something good will come from it and I hope the victims family will someday be able to find peace. Ive heard that theres no thing worse than loosing a child. :(:(

    I'm not sure how you mistake a gun for a taser...especially a trained officer. That said, maybe he did get caught up in the moment and panicked a bit and it was a mistake.

    Still, I think it's a pretty big mistake. I didn't get to sit through the trial so I don't know what I think is appropriate.

    The aftermath...riots...breaking store windows, etc, is just as sad. I can't believe people do that sort of thing...what the hell is wrong with them?

    there's people who don't do the right thing in any occupation and risk losing their careers, families and prison time. not just law enforcement people. prfctlefts, of course people make mistakes, that's the nature of the beast, none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes. this wasn't a mistake though. i think if you looked at the facts and evidence surrounding this case, you would find it pretty hard to swallow that this was an accident.

    no-ones saying all law enforcement officers are assholes or murderers. there's plenty of good guys.

    the reality is some are not so good. here's some examples. they are not above the law and should be prosecuted to the same standards you or i would be.
