Roskilde....10 years ago today

I was there in the front row. Being in the front row probably saved my life because I had something to hold on to. After they stopped playing I participated in getting the people over the fence to the security guards. I saw Eddie burst into tears wich was shocking. But it was first when I saw the "Head Of Security" stopping his activities an hidíng his facs in his hands I understood that something terrible had happened.
This was one of the most shocking moments in my life, but it is nothing compared to what the victims went through in their last minutes of life, and what the nothing compared to what their families and friends has gone through the last ten years.

I can't even imagine what it must have been like 10 years ago when it happened.
How many people on here were actually there that night? What did you experience?
I was at Roskilde. Kinda hard to put into words what I experienced two days ago. I guess it was a mix of that vibrant feeling of joy and elation at the pure energy that's always unleashed at a Pearl Jam show and at the same time a feeling of melancholy and sadness over those events ten years ago.
As for what I experienced back then - madness and chaos. A writhing sprawl of bodies on a torn up, muddy field and an insane pressure that is every concert regulars worst nightmare. I fought my way out fairly early in the set, since it was obvious that the pressure was way more intense than what it's supposed to be and watched the rest from out at the side. Then everything kinda blurs together, but I remember Ed crying, very vividly, I remember the total shock, my entire family calling early next morning to check on me, Light Years played on every radio station in the country at noon. I remember the spontaneously erected memorial that was put up the next day. I remember standing there with a completely empty feeling in my gut. Can't imagine what it was like for those who lost a loved one. Never went back to Roskilde after that year. For me, it means I've grown much closer to the band, though.
I guess for me, as for all those who were there, it's an experience that'll never leave me. Nor should it. It, amongst other things, continously give me a new perspective on how much to appreciate just life and what we have in it.
RIP, my friends. *********0 -

It bothered me, too. Thank you for finding the ninth name. They all deserve to be remembered.___________________________________________
