Stone Gossard's Marshall Stack

Ok anyone notice that when stone used to use the marshall stack like back in 91-93 on almost every performance i have watched online the red power light is never on. So is his marshall stack just for show or what, otherwise if he was using it the power light would be light red wouldn't it?

    not necessarily marshalls are actually known for there lights to blow out
