    dirt, easy.
  • Dirt.

That album is one of my top 5 albums and has huge significant personal meaning to me. Plus I saw 3 concerts for Dirt and was fortunate enough to have my Dec. 1992 ticket stub signed by Layne.

I love Facelift, but gotta go with Dirt as my favorite. That album is just amazing. Tough to listen to now, in retrospect, with all the references to addiction but it's still in my top 10 all-time.
I smile, but who am I kidding...

    Dirt!

I do love Facelift as well, but the second half isn't quite as strong as the first.
And I planted my bolo knife in the neck of mad John Finn. I took his wretched life.
Now I'm over near the bandstand, every hand moving on John Finn's wife...

Dirt. I tend to jump around from track to track with Facelift, but Dirt I can listen to from start to finish and never get tired of it. It's also one of those rare albums that flows on repeat from Would? to Them Bones.

yeah can we just all agree that their entire catalog is epic.

Their MTV Unplugged album is probably the best that that show ever had.

  • I love Facelift. The opening songs on that album work like a greatest hits collection, however, I would say Dirt is the stronger album.

I listen to Dirt more often now, but I don't know if I could ever decide on one....I think Facelift is just as solid, just a little less intense.
I was a big metalhead when Facelift came out, and the sound of that album totally changed my taste in music..
I'll never forget playing it for a musician friend of mine, and watching his face while he listened to It Ain't Like That for the first time....ear to ear grin...he was blown away that such low-tempo music could be so heavy...

I was listening to Black Gives Way to Blue a few days ago. It's an okay album, but then I put on Facelift and almost started crying... The comparison is fucking stark.

Dirt is a better album, but a little too played out for me. Still, every couple years I have an episode where I NEED to listen to it a dozen or so times in a row, and then I'm good for a while.

That's frigin awesome, man. I can't decide which album I like better, but I have to agree that I tend to skip around LESS with Dirt, if that counts for anything. Two classic albums, IMO. RIP Layne. Ihonestly wish we would have seen more experimentation from him a la Mad Season...another classic

Dirt is a good album, but I rarely listen to it, and when I do, I don't get all the way through. Facelift is a brilliant album, and by far my favourite of the two.
