I was the show and was totally shocked when they played this song. Probably one of my all time favorite VH songs...I can't wait to get the boot in the mail so I can listen to it over and over again!

Its because they won a BUNCH of games in a row, like 70+. I hadn't known either, but people who follow sports did - when I mentioned the song and the dedication to the people I teach aerobic class to, they nodded knowingly. They'd all heard about it.Newch91 wrote:Ever since the show, I've been wondering why it was dedicated to the UConn Women's team. I need help!!
Great rendition of the song - we were front row! I never listened to Van Halen other than what was on the radio, so the song sounded familiar, but I didn't know the name when it started, but Mike sure nailed the VH guitar sound.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

Anyhow, yeah that is cool as hell that PJ covered such a kick as song from one of my most favorite bands growing up in the 80's.

Wanna be moderators are not cool at all and should really take a look in the mirror and say...."why am I a wanna be moderator/Internet forum security guard?"If I were Eddie Vedder, would you like me any better? - Local H0

i thought about this, for like a minute, and i really could not come up with any reasons why a person might want to do this?
then i moved on, this guy clearly cannot-
so now i'm really curious?

yes, as i stated I think I know who to ask-
however, when my boyfriend caught me emailing her one day he actually said "this is ridiculous"
therefore, i choose not to reveal my source unless she gives us the answer.
if anybody knows it will be her though.0 -
Add me to the list wondering what this song has to do with the UConn women's basketball team. I figured when listening to Eddie introduce the song at the show that I missed the link between the song and the team, but judging from other people's confusion he never provided one.
Can't wait 'til my Hartford bootleg arrives today to give this incredible night another listen!0 -

Haha that's great.
The one theory I have seems a little sexist for a guy like Eddie: although the subjects (UConn women's team) are of the female sex, in this case we are not honoring them for the nurturing/carnal qualities women provide the opposite sex, but rather their prowess on the basketball court....."ain't talkin bout love, [we talkin bout basketball]"
I know, I know. Huge stretch, but it's all I could come up with. I tried to word that as delicately as possible so as not to come off like a pig :oops:0
