Dissident on Unplugged

So, I've listened to the Unplugged show 50 times and never until tonight did I notice that between Black and Jeremy, when Mike is tuning up, Stone starts playing the music for what became Dissident. Ed's singing a different melody line and different lyrics, but that's definitely Dissident.

Sorry if this has been posted already or if this is old news. I searched before I posted this and didn't see a specific mention of it. Board snobs, if you want to insult me, just don't. Kindly point out where it's been mentioned before and I'll stand corrected.

  • Apparently that's actually a song by the Rolling Stones called Angie.
I didn't know this at first it sounds exactly like Dissident, but I've never heard Angie so I couldn't be sure.

  • angie is also played, but definitely the riff during the verse of dissident DOES get played... ed jams along a little and then comments on something about that being how they wrote music...
drifting around, figuring it out as i go along...

I´ve noticed about it a little time ago also, and its definitely dissident, if u listen carefully ed´s says something like "this is all we wrote" when the jam stops. it sound really good and it really makes want to hear it in an unplugged version.

edit: maybe is "this how we write"

yeah, this is definitely not angie, it's dissident. and that is the part where he says "that's how we write"...

i just can't believe i missed it so many times... maybe because mike is tuning up at the same time, so i never paid that much attention to it.

but yeah, it makes me want to hear an early version of it. i wonder if they ever put down that melody line and vocal on tape...

  • isnt unplugged back now? but on VH1 or something?... id love to see em do it again... even if it would put them amongst the cheesy sellouts like bon jovi who do it these days...

down the road should PJ ever break up or when they eventually die i bet a bunch of rare demo tapes n shit will surface and those will be awesome... not that id ever want them to break up or die :D
