It's a pretty strong indictment against him as her murderer, but then again they never found enough evidence to even charge him before much less have him go to trial.

My gut feeling says he's guilty of both, though.

they had enough evidence ... except his dad was a judge there and he pulled the strings to cover everything up ... everyone knew he killed holloway ...

actually it had nothing to do with his dad. without a body and a murder weapon u cant have a closed case.
that said, i think they should have him incarcerated as well.

from what i read a long time ago ... the dad had the body disposed of ... it's all speculative of course ... i also heard the police totally botched the investigation ... probably a combination of everything ...

it is definitely hard to prove murder in the holloway case without evidence such as...i dunno....maybe a body?? i believe that he did both of these crimes, but without proper evidence there is no slam dunk case in the first case. with the witness statements of seeing them together i think it is pretty damning, but its hard to prove murder with only circumstantial evidence. in this new case it seems like a slam dunk because we know she was murdered, we have a body and we know she was found in his hotel room, and we know they were seen together in a casino earlier in that day, and we know the suspect is missing and on the run.

Why do people always say this? I'm not defending this murderer, but advocating rape on someone just isn't cool in my book. Granted, we know it happens, but what kind of person wishes this on someone else...whether they are a criminal or not?

The criminal sentence is to be locked up. Not to be raped repeatedly.

Cause locking people up is too good for some people.

Personally, I don't think he should be locked up at all.

wasn't there a video of him confessing the murder to a friend? Certainly that has to be evidence!

You'd think being involved in of the biggest and highly publicized murder cases of the year you'd try not to leave any dead bodies in your hotel room....

Not actually "confessing" so to speak, but there is video of him looking for $250,000 to tell this dude where her body is. But he had nothing to do with it. And I hate that smug look on his face too, LOCK HIM UP

i don't think he said he murdered her, he said he was there and she suddenly died and some other guy took her on a boat and threw her over (at least that's how i remember it, i could be wrong)

also, i think for some reason it was inadmissable, maybe because he was filmed without his consent

These are the types of things I fond to be ridiculously disturbing about the justice system.

I get that it keeps people from constantly recording everyone, but it still is sickening. I sure hope it can be used in court...are you sure it isn't being allowed?

Van der Sloot has a striking resemblance to Knucklehead Smiff, seen in the picture on the far right (Jerry Mahoney is on the left, Paul Winchell in the center):

Ver der Sloot's father, a high ranking judge in the Aruba judicial system isn't alive anymore. I wish they'd re-open the Holloway case in Aruba.
