Great idea.
I prefer Pearl Fam over Jamily.0 -
Unless i'm totally wacked out now...
I hate to take a big shit on this thread, but the 10th Anniversay show (Las Vegas) was in 2000. Thus, the 20th Anniversay show would be this year.
It's a weird thing with numbers. Say a sports league starts up and has their first season in 1996. Their 10th season would be 2005, but their 10th anniversary would be 2006 (aka 10 years after they started.)
Pearl Jam started in 1990, right?

The moral of the story? The term "year" doesn't really mean the same thing as "anniversary."Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -

From what we've heard, this year is the 20th anniversary of the Off Ramp gig, but the 'official' 20 year anniversary is commemorating the 20 year release of "Ten"0 -
Very cool idea a book to cherish, thank you!
I like Jamily because it makes me think of family, and the love, loyalty, support, comfort that goes with the word. "Fam" although the meaning is there is not as strong a reference, it looks a little like a typo also. I guess if some people feel really strongly against Jamily though it might be better to go with Fam. We just want a happy Pearl Jam Family and those that like Jamily will probably be ok with Fam.0 -

Personally would not support anything associated with that term. I see it as silly and childish. I’m saddened to see you perpetuate it Laura. We’re a community of fans, pretty simple.

I'm pretty saddened by this. Sometimes it's good to be 'childish' and remember the fun things in life. Don't take a simple term some people choose to use in a fun way so seriously.
No matter what its called, its a great idea and it would be wonderful if everyone can get behind the idea and not get into the semantics of one or two words/phrases - at the end of the day we are all fans whether you choose to phrase it as 'jamily' 'pearl fam' or 'community of fans' - they all mean the same thing!

Sure, but if you had a close group and 3-5 out of ten of them were upset by a certain term, why push that term.
Someone said the term is polarizing. That is 100% true. So in the interest of not upsetting what might be half of the people interested in this awesome idea, wouldn't it be prudent to just go with something else?
By pushing this term, you are basically telling those people who have made it clear that the term is unliked, that you don't care about the way they feel about it.
It is a simple fix to change the name, but by ignoring 30%-50% of the group it doesn't make me feel like being part of that project/group.
Awesome idea. Laura is awesome, it will be awesome, but with that term attached I'm put off, and obviously many are.0 -

My apologies, I'm not sure that's what I meant. I just felt it was a bit harsh to say that they were disappointed in Laura for perpetuating a term. It was more a rally call for the idea! I wasn't saying in any way the term 'Jamily' should be used or that it shouldn't be used (for this project or anything else) - rather the focus should be on the idea and execution itself. If anything I was trying to say we should all be involved and forget about using certain phrases and getting fixated on them as they all mean the same thing - as Laura said it was only used "for lack of a better term".
Apologies again if I offended anyone by my post, that was most definitley not my intention!http://www.wishlistfoundation.org

I think people who actually get upset over the use of the term need to have their head examined. If you don't like it, find it childish, whatever... fine, your opinion. But to actually get upset over it?
It's a fucking band people. You're a group of fans. There are bigger problems in life.
