Kings of Leon later this year

Didn't really feel like making a new thread so just did a search and this fits in well with this.

    from NME:

Kings Of Leon recording 'chilled out' and 'beach-y' new album Kings Of Leon Tickets

Nathan Followill says band will play new material live in June

Kings Of Leon drummer Nathan Followill has given an update on the recording of the band's new album.

Speaking as part of a press conference for the Bonnaroo festival, Followill said the follow-up to 'Only By The Night' is "coming along great", reports Spin.com.

He added: "[It's been the] first time we ever recorded in New York City and we thought we'd come out with a darker record because we'd done all our records in either Nashville or Los Angeles where it's a little more chilled out."

Speaking of the direction the band have taken on the album, he said: "It's got songs that are beach-y and songs that are a little more like our [2003 debut album] 'Youth & Young Manhood' days. We're super excited. It will be interesting to see how well received it is."

He also confirmed that the band will play new material when they headline Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, Tennessee on June 11.

"It will be tough to not play the whole [new album] at Bonnaroo. We're going to try to be very selective of what we play, but there will definitely be some new tunes."

The band are set to play London's Hyde Park on June 30.

I just want to take this moment to say there might be something wrong with me, because The Hold Steady are very popular with people who have similar taste in music as me, but that band annoys me shitless. Mainly it's their singer... their guitar work is also pretty boring, with only the occasional bright spot, but yeah, mainly it's that whenever I hear the singer, I just want him to shut the fuck up. He sounds way too dramatic for what he's singing about. Sorry, HS fans. And I say this knowing that they've toured with the Drive-By Truckers, who I think are fucking phenomenal. Oh well. Not everything has to make sense, I guess. Maybe I should shut the fuck up...

What's good for 2010... I like what I've heard from the National, and the new Band of Horses is addicting. The new DBT is not their best, but still of excellent quality.

Big Hold Steady fan here, but I know what you mean. I've actually caught myself thinking when I listen to them that Craig's vocal style is very similar to something I would listen to once and turn my nose up at. It doesn't make since to me for me to like them kind of in the same way you are talking about, but Stay Positive hooked me big time.
Somehow the new album just hasn't quite clicked with me yet...it's good, damn good in some spots...but I guess I was looking for another Stay Positive and it just doesn't measure up....of course that would've been almost impossible for them to accomplish. Maybe if I can listen to it without trying to compare it to Stay Positive I will "get it" a little better.

And...having heard a few of the new songs...I'm really looking forward to the Tom Petty album. Sounds great. Would love to see him again this year but it probably won't happen.
I do have the DBTs to look forward to at the end of the June though
All I have to do is revel in the everyday....then do it again tomorrow

They say every sin is deadly but I believe they may be wrong...I'm guilty of all seven and I don't feel too bad at all
