Funny Meathead Comment at MSG 2

Section 213, behind the stage wound up being a great seat except for the two meatheads next to us. They were kind enough to leave after RVM but before they left they provided this beauty during Sweet Lew:

"Who the F#ck is this guy singing?"

I'm still chuckling about it and I am sure the other people who were around us are too!

drunken assholes behind us were screaming "GET OFF THE FUCKING STAGE".

I wanted to beat the shit out of them but figured it wasn't worth getting kicked out (thank GOD I didn't...).

To be honest , to the casual, non-fanatically obsessed Pearl jam concert attendee, this would be a perfectly normal question. I for one don't know the bass players name to every concert I have ever attended, let alone the name to some obscure B-side that has only been played live once before ....
I don't know how everyone in attendance didn't know what song it was... what a bunch of morons :roll:

Agreed. Moreover, I was a little disappointed that they reprised this. It was such a great, special moment on Halloween.

Songs like Sweet Lew certainly do seperate the hard-core fans from the 'Yeah I like Pearl Jam but it's sad they never did anything after VS' people

thats just awful! Sweet Lew Philly 4 was a high point of the evening. Jeff is great and so sweet too.

i liked it because it shows how loose the band is, having fun, singing this song among so many of their other songs that are deeper and address more serious issues and topics

There was a group of these people infront of me on night two (block 225 - in one of those little box things), who pretty much talked/txt/photographed each other FOR THE WHOLE SHOW. They must have asked the guy next to me a dozen times "what song is this".

Definitely not a great song, but it added further depth to that part of the set, coming after the acoustic/string-quartet moments and before the slamming last few songs of that encore.

I dug it most for the "boom-boom" rhythm Eddie was keeping with the basketball. Goddamn what a night.......................

Agreed. I realized they were going to play it after I spotted the basketball near Boom. That song totally blows...

yeah, it was fun to hear in philly, because it felt like they were 'pulling out all the stops' to close the spectrum.

You know, there is an argument to be made (mostly by people not at MSG2) that those who attended decided this tour closing Friday night at MSG was going to be epic at least from the crowd perspective, and truly it was an epic crowd. But what you just wrote sounds a bit like rationalization in an attempt to preserve the perfection and "epic" quality of the show. Further depth? as in, how low can they go? It was a novelty, it was funny, and it was an incredible night.

Sorry not trying to pick a fight, I'm writing this all with a very affectionate smile across my face.

I perceived no depth in the show - the way I figure, Jeff probably wanted to sing in front of the greatest crowd one could ever hope for in life - and I hope it left him satisfied

i sat behind one of those for both shows, they sucked the first night,watched the yankee game,sat,texted. I wanted to spill my beer on them but my wife wouldnt let me, but who ever was there the second, turned off the t.v.'s and rocked out like everybody else.

At Buffalo on this tour, I was wearing the Stickman shirt with all the Ten-era songs on the back and someone asked me "Once is from Vs. right?" I kindly corrected them and the laughed.
