Which was better? Who went to all 7 shows? I was at all 3 Boston 03' shows and cannot imagine anything better than those dates... (or that month in Boston!)
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...
I'll go with Philly 4. I'm biased since I was there but I think the setlist is a little better and in Philly we didn't have to deal with Sleater Kinney.
EDIT: I've listened to the Boston 3 boot many, many times. I know it's not the same as being there, but I do know how the show sounded at least.
Boston 3 because it was like going to a Pearl Jam concert and getting to watch an "Unplugged" performance as a bonus. Amazing.

Boston 3 was better than Philly 4. I wasn't at either but I have heard both boots. However, I have to say that as a whole, the Philly 09 experience was better than the Boston 03 experience overall. Can't wait to get the official Philly boots in the mail.
I was at Mansfield 1&2, but I don't remember much.

I was at both Philly and Boston, and the best show was State College.
Yea, Satan's Bed sounds awesome .
Good one
State College -- its a long show and it must have been awesome to be there, but I think there are much better shows from that tour. Among others, Id rate these shows from 2003 much higher: Buffalo, MSG1 & 2, Mexico City, San Antonio, San Diego, Mansfield (7/3 and 7/11).

state college was just a long show. i will say it again like ive said it before...state college is THE MOST OVERRATED show this band has played! it was good. it was damn good. porch alone was worth the purchase. but from that year...uniondale was more intense, holmdel was magical and buffalo was STELLAR. lets not forget the garden and the manchesters. state college was just simply a very long Pearl Jam show. nothing more, nothing less. do i wish i was there? hell yes. but still...overrated.
now to the matter at hand...PHILLY 3 BY A LONG LONG LONG MILE!!!
what about all three Boston shows in 03' vs all four Philly shows?
Philly '09 Experience! No other double or triple or qua-triple hitter show's under one certain roof could even come close to Pearl Jam's Philly '09 performance @ the Spectrum.

Sounds like the opinion of someone who wasn't at State College, the show was amazing, with an epic setlist for the time. Hearing an un-rehearsed Satan's bed was the highlight of the night, not to mention 2 improvs. The difference between Philly and State College is simple, in Philly they played long because they felt they had to, in State College, they played long because they wanted to! The Philly shows felt so forced.
I was also at Buffalo and Holmdel. Buffalo was great, close to State College, but Holmdel? Holmdel was not a very tight show, with a horrible setlist. Hunger strike was nice, but Corin Tucker ruined it. Hearing wash for the 90th time to open a show doesn't help it's case either. As for MSG, people get too wrapped up in the building, the building doesn't make the show great.
hmm i was only at the philly shows but i'm still gonna say show for show, you can't decide. pretty even.
HOWEVER, the whole philly 09 experiment vs the whole mansfield 03 experiment .. philly 09 wins definitely.
I think Boston wins that one if on nothing else than a technicality, because the Philly "experiment" failed.
They failed to play every song in Boston too. They had a lot more material to pull from in Philly. Sure they missed more songs, but I bet they played more songs too. One could also take in to account the price of 3 tickets then vs. 4 tickets now. Or that fact that Boston is >>>> than Philly. I guess I really don't have a horse in this race of which set of shows was the best. But Boston 3 was easily the single best show of the 7. None were State College.
I was at the Boston shows, and not at the Philly shows, but I have heard the boot. Listening to a bootleg or reading a setlist can NEVER compare to being at any particular show. I think the only people that who have good opinions on this are the few that were at both shows. And I'm glad to see that those people have chosen Boston (Mansfield) so far.

As an individual show, IMO, Buffalo 03 was better than any of the individual Philly shows.
Didnt attend the Mansfield 3, so I cant give an accurate comparison.
