as some of you know I watch the History Channel often and lately A lot of stuff about UFO's and ancient aliens
has been on..I myself have a hard time believing that little gray men idea and much less that these ancient aliens built the pyramids and to make it all even stranger this guy a Dr. PHD kind a guy is trying to tell us that we are hybred's (spell check :D ) 0f ancient aliens, my thought on this stuff is that it's total entertainment and the brain child of the same people that congered up the boogie man but that's my thoughts on it.I have never seen a UFO and the pictures are always grainy and unclear.
just wondered what some of you think.

I personally believe in the existance of other life forms but not in aliens as in little grey/green men. I cant imagine a vast universe with no life in it other than on earth. Being an atheist as well leads me to believe that other completely random events have happened in far off worlds that would create and sustain life.

I have to venture that any unbiased scientist/cosmologist would say the universe has tons of intelligent beings.

Whether they have visited us is the only question.

I am very skeptical in general about stuff like this, but I am also open-minded. When I see this crazy footage which I believe to be genuine, and you hear multiple credible people (police, military, airline pilots, etc) saying clearly what they saw... it's hard to discount UFO's. ...but WHAT the UFO's are is a bigger question.

There was a great documentary called "I Know What I Saw". You can watch it in 10 parts on youtube, or you can DVR it on tv. The info seems to get better as the show goes on.

Here's the first 10 minutes, and you can click on the following parts as each finishes:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvdzc9FAmTc

A lot of the UFO shows are just crazy talk, or just bad footage. The "I Know What I Saw" is a much better quality program.

It's pretty arrogant to believe we're the ONLY intelligent life in the universe.

Think of a colony of ants living on the Austrailian Continent... and a colony of ants living in Brazil.
What is the likelihood of those ants ever making contact with each other or even knowing of the existance of the other colony?
And what is the likelihood of them making contact with each other if the colony in Brazil lived 700,000,000 years ago and have been extinct for the past 200,000,000 years?
    ...
If Mankind is the only intelligence in this Universe... this has to go down as the stupidest Universe of all time.

If you look at the Bible with the same jaundiced eye... wouldn't you reach the same conclusions?
If what you say is true... couldn't the same thing apply to religion? I mean, when was the last time you saw God, Lucifer (the boogieman) or Jesus other than in a Cheeto or a urine stain on a fence? Does not seeing them mean they do not exist?

If I were a gambling man, I would wager all three of my children's college funds on FACT! Whether I could support that with indisputable evidence, that is another story. Unlike the Bible, a simple metaphor for what humans encounter on a daily basis on this planet, UFO's/ aliens are as likely as the fingers extending from my hand. I can't say for sure I have a hand, but it looks like what others call a hand and it has properties that act as if it were a hand, but it is only my mind telling me it is a hand. As long as we live and breathe, out there, where the number of suns and planets is a billion times infinity, then anything is plausible. This whole design is too complex yet simple for things like this not to exist. If you find proof, where you are holding a little guy in your hand and he is squirming, shoot some video. I'll believe it.

I don't discount the possibility of other beings of some sort in the universe. The vast size and possibility would find it more likely than not that some type of being exists. That could be the smallest life form or something as complex as humans or even more evolved.

And I have always been one to believe that there is zero difference between the god and alien discussion. The possibility is out-there but we simply do not know and can't account for everything - just simply unknown - just like a god or alien. People who believe in aliens would probably agree, but people are are religious usually take offense. Aliens are so outlandish, but the thought of an invisible creator/puppeteer is absolute.. ha! :D
    CONservative governMENt

Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example. Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law-breaker, it breeds contempt for law; it invites every man to become a law unto himself; it invites anarchy. - Louis Brandeis

Well... because of the vastness that is the Universe... with billions upon billions of stars... there is not one other star that has captured a system of planets... with one of the planets capable of supporting life?
If it is true... that we are the only form of intelligence in the vast universe... and look at how we are... how we treat each other... how we treat our planet... that is the best this Universe has to offer?
If that is true... then, I would tend to believe that this is one pretty lame Universe.
NOTE: There is a possibility that we can evolve to become a great intelligence... but, to get there... it's a long road ahead of us. I'm guessing Mother Nature (a.k.a. God) will slate us for extinction with another asteroid strike before we figure it out.

Understood. It was an example. The Continents represent planets, separated by the vastness of space (the oceans). Just as ants cannot navigate across the oceans, we cannot travel through space. And the ant colonies represent us (humans) and other life forms. Even if we can travel through space, we may arrive on a planet we life once existed and is now, long gone. The existance of life in the universe in not simultanious. That is, we exist today, but there's no guarantee for us 100 million years from now. The same holds true for other life that may have (at one time) existed.
The Universe is a big place with lots of foriegn worlds... some that do not exist yet and others that have long since, passed.

It has been estimated several years ago, based on deep-space photos from the Hubble telescope, that there are 50 billion galaxies that are visible to us. Recently, some observers have claimed there may be as many as 100 billion. Although the right conditions for life is thought to be very rare, with over 50 billion galaxies out there the odds persist that there are other forms of intelligent life.

Our planet however sits is a relatively empty region of the Milky Way. The closest star(s) to earth which may harbor life is Rigil which is actually a binary star system. It’s 4.37 light years away. We have just implemented technology to visually find planets and the closest one spotted that could be similar to Earth is 20 light years away. It is unlikely that either of these systems have advanced life. The odds that an intergalactic race has sent ships to Earth on a whim and they arrived in the last hundred years are very small.

The vast size of the universe is also a good reason to believe that aliens haven't visited earth. I mean there is like an infinite number of solar systems out there. What are the odds that beings from another planet in another solar system was able to develop interstellar travel and then find us? Out of all the planets out there, the odds of them finding us are probably approaching zero.

On top of that in the 13 billion year history of the universe what are the odds that in the 2 million year history of humans (or bipedal human like primates) which is like a dot on a very long line, that life from another planet was developed enough to have space travel in and find our planet? I mean it is just as likely there was an alien species that evolved and went extinct long before humans ever started to evolve.

    We are aliens.

I believe I have seen a UFO- one of my best friends also has an amazing story, which is really unexplainable.

You should read "Chariots of the God's" - their is some incredible information related to ancient civilizations in that book. A lot of the info is simply beyond believable, but true (in regards to structures and physical evidence)
